ucation and performance is accomplished through teaching, mentoring, collaboration, partnership, and leadership by working with parents, schools, jazz artists, businesses, corporations, the arts, foundations, and the people of our community. The educational mission of the Jazzscape Junior Jazz Foundation is to work with parents and with schools to provide music instruments, music lessons, and training for young musicians of promise, with a passion for great music, in Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties. The Foundation also seeks to provide scholarships to aspiring young artists to enable them to reach their musical potential through our great American art form. The Foundation’s performance mission utilizes Jazzscape.org, our on-line radio station, featuring Jazz, Blues, Big Band, Sinatra, and The Great American Songbook. Jazzscape.org spotlights local high school and college jazz bands and orchestras, and local performing artists, through: on-air performances; playing their growing library of recordings; and personal interviews. Performances and personal interviews of our young student artists, and interviews with their proud parents, band directors, and instructors, will be used to increase students' performance abilities, self esteem, and passion for music. Our goal is to provide a performance venue for local students, aspiring artists, and professional artists, to create an active and enthusiastic community interested in seeing and hearing these individuals and groups perform, thereby preserving America's gift to the world, Jazz.
