With the WGA & SAG AFTRA strikes both resolved, we will be reopening to business on Wednesday, November 15th and will be available for telephone or video consultation effective Monday 11/13.
We hope that everyone affected during these strikes is able to resume work soon and look forward to seeing you all on set soon.
Although we all miss our work and our crafts, remember to balance work and rest in the coming months of anticipated production.
Congratulations again to our union brothers and sisters on their historic deals! Remember with solidarity a win for one is a win for all and we emerge stronger now than we were prior to the strikes.

Congratulations to the members of SAG / AFTRA on reaching a tentative contract agreement!
We hope that the national board votes to ratify and approve the deal shortly.
We are excited for the members and look forward to working with many of you in the immediate future.

The Meta censors and shadow bans strike again.
The powers that be do not make exceptions for industry use of this platform and penalize those who do so responsibly.
The current community standards seem to be arbitrary at best as nudity and other banned materials pop up in our feeds regularly and are suggested constantly, but other areas are targeted with no give or reasonable accommodations.
How does a company that works with an impeccable safety record in the entertainment industry and promotes safety and education in the use of prop fi****ms maintain a presence on this platform without actually showing those items?
So for now, the only folks who see the posts I put on here are those who already follow this account, and even those views get throttled down and are limited.
As I do with other businesses in this position, I share them with others who work with these items and promote them as much as I can through shares and likes. If we all do this, maybe we can change the algorithm and help other businesses out, especially during the strike when everyone is already struggling and hurting.

Adam Savage said it best when he said "Failure is always an option!".
Remember to pay careful attention to directions when using new materials, as there is a big difference between mixing molding chemical ratios by volume versus by weight.
Never be in a rush to mold before being properly caffeinated!
Sharing this oops moment in the shop as a reminder that we don't always get it right the first time. Even after doing this work for a decade, I still have brain-fart moments on the work bench where everything doesn't come together right, especially when trying a new medium for the first time. I believe it's just as important to share what doesn't go right as it is to share what does go right. There are many who follow this page that are just starting out in the business and it's good for them to know it happens to all of us!
Was it a failure?
Nope!
It was a pricey lesson to learn from.
Read the directions carefully. Pause for a moment and read them again. Make sure you've drank enough coffee to process what you are reading and then work!
For now, it's back to cleaning up the mold, letting the prop dry and doing it right this time.

Back on the work bench getting ready to make the mold and then castings of this prop radio.
Claying and pouring the first half of the mold today.
And if you're thinking those round registration marks look like a 9mm hollow point projectile, you wouldn't be wrong! We use one of our shop made dummy rounds for this job.
Although we remain temporarily closed for the past 5 months due to the SAG / AFTRA strike, we are gearing up for a busy return to production life in the near future.
We hope to see everyone back on set soon and are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.

Back in the shop getting a few projects knocked out during the "pause" in business.
Currently working on transitioning old law enforcement training aids in to accurate camera ready film props.
We look forward to hearing positive news soon regarding the SAG / AFTRA negotiations with the studios and are gearing up for the day when we can resume doing what we love - working with our film family! Until that time arrives, we stand in solidarity with our union brothers and sisters and continue to support everyone affected by the strikes.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to walk through Senoia GA with Hollywood Prop Master and Armorer Dutch Merrick.
We walked through the town and explored areas used in the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes " and the series "The Walking Dead" as the towns of Alexandria and Westbury, including a visit to the Walking Dead Museum.
Touring a location like this while being able to talk about the sets, props and technical aspects of production with an industry legend who has 30 years of experience and countless credits to his name was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Looking through the props and discussing the weathering, modifications and techniques used to make them screen ready with Dutch was an absolute fanboy moment for this prop master.
These are some of the items on display at the "Woodbury Shoppe", a museum and gift shop for the AMC series "The Walking Dead".

Spent a great day at Cine Gear Expo at Trilith Studios of Atlanta GA and on the filming locations of The Walking Dead in Senioa Ga.
Got to enjoy looking at some of the sets pieces, locations and props featured during filming with Prop Master, Armorer and Industry Prop Gun Safety instructor Dutch Merrick of Prop Gun Safety.
Having the opportunity to talk shop and prop firearm safety today one on one with a legend like Dutch after attending his workshop yesterday only strengthens my commitment to enhance what we do within this industry to ensure everyone remains safe on set and we all go home at wrap.

Had the honor of attending the Prop Gun Safety workshop today conducted by an industry legend, Dutch Merrick and hosted by the amazing team at ISS Props of Atlanta.
What a great day of education, hands on training and learning with a class full of industry experts including my prop brother from another mother, Mike Corrie.
If you work on set with fi****ms in any capacity, this class should be a requirement!
I highly recommend this course to anyone working as 1st AD, UDM, Prop Dept or looking to get into working as a fi****ms wrangler or armorer.

We are excited to share this amazing project "Reborn" for the Boulder Crest Foundation, directed and produced by Neymarc Visuals.
This project focuses on the trauma, both psychological and emotional experienced by our first responder community during crisis situations. The story focuses on the effects of PTSD on the responder and those around them, and the journey for treatment and coping with the trauma.
It was an honor to work with the entire cast and crew to bring this amazing story to life. We hope that this story reaches those who need it the most and that they take advantage of programs like this to heal and rise above their trauma.
Thank you to everyone at , , for inviting us to be a part of this touching and amazing film.

As a retired veteran of the NYPD, I applaud everyone involved with this program and encourage anyone who needs help to contact the Boulder Crest Foundation to enroll.

⚠️ Tentative Deal for WGA ⚠️
After 146 days of striking, we applaud the WGA on reaching a tentative contract deal with the studios. This deal still needs to be voted up on and ratified by members and leadership before it accepted and writers can resume working.
We continue to support the WGA and SAG-AFTRA in their quests for a fare labor contract and improvements in the working environment that benefit all of us.
Many of the issues they have taken a stance on during these strikes and negotiations have an impact on the livelihood of the industry outside of their unions. The protections they are seeking affect many thousands of workers in this industry and we stand with them both in solidarity. A win for some in this instance is a win for all.
We will remain closed and not resume business activities until both contracts have been settled and industry wide production resumes.
We thank everyone who has contacted us during this strike related closure and wish all of the independent and waiver productions the best.

It has been brought to my attention that this account is not being shared by Instagram on their feeds or recommendations due to our display of theatrical prop fi****ms.
As this business strives to be an educational resource to those in the film and television industry on the safe and proper handling of prop weapons, this strikes us as being counterproductive to sharing that very information to those who need it most.
We understand that large social media platforms such as Meta and Instagram have to take broad steps to ensure the safety of their subscribers, but also ask that they consider the fact that this practice limits the available safety and educational information available to their customers. We also acknowledge and understand that some content on these platforms highlight unsafe and irresponsible handling and use of weapons, this account not being one of them.
There should be an exception upon review for those accounts that provide needed knowledge and safe practices to be shared with the community and not censored or restricted. There is currently no consideration for industry professionals who go above and beyond the requirements to ensure the message of safety and responsible handling of these props and simulated weapons can be shared openly with the public.
- we regularly provide services to the film and entertainment industry that requires the use of these items and do so with a perfect safety record as well as providing educational workshops for people entering the entertainment industry at no cost. Having over 30 years of experience, training and over 200 productions to our credit, we ask that you consider facts in your decision. Being restricted to "followers only" content sharing is a short sighted reaction that can limit the reach of important safety messages. Consider allowing creators on your platform to utilize a "for educational or professional purposes" disclaimer to their posts and trusting your customers to use their best judgement before restricting and censoring non offensive materials.
