A quick update on 2024 Pig Out- We will have public bathrooms available at the ball fields Friday night and at Memorial Hall Saturday. We looked into porter-potties, but it would be our biggest expense and they would be sitting out there after the event until Monday afternoon and I don't think anyone wants that. Please don't make us regret opening the public bathrooms to everyone. Clean up after yourself, pick up your own trash, and remember volunteers are the ones putting all of this on and cleaning up each night.
Neva Alden had to bow out for a huge opportunity she has that weekend, we are all so proud of her. We are filling her slot with two bands Friday night, we'll announce shortly.
It's looking like the weather on Friday night will be between 80-85 and cloudy on Friday night and 80-90 and breezy Saturday night.
Rough schedule of all three Pig Out Events
Friday(6/14) at the James Calhoun Sports Complex on Pleasant street.
Everything should be set up by roughly 3:00, if it's early I'll post on the Pleasantville area page. We will have Inflatables from Hop A Lot, North End's Beer Garden, The Pleasantville Youth Initiative and Pleasantville Church of Christ will have games set up as well. We will have live music starting at 6:00. Harter Family Farms will have a table set up as well.
The inflatables will be about 5 or 6 different setups and wristbands are $5 for unlimited access. If your family is struggling right now and would like a free one, please message me(randyjobst) and I can get you one ahead of time. We all go through tough times and one of the missions of the PBO is to make sure every kid can participate in sports and community events, so if money is tight don't be proud, just reach out and we'll make sure you are taken care of.
We will also have Kate's Kookies and Liza's Sushi as our food and dessert venders.
The Car Show registration will be right in front of Memorial Hall on Saturday, 6/15 starting at 10:00. $20 per car, no restrictions, prizes for top 15 as voted on by the contestants only. We will judge at 1:00 and wrap up at 2. The Lodge is doing a free will breakfast, the Pleasantville Farmers Market will also be set up on the square and the Pleasantville Christian Church will be selling breakfast burritos as well.
The Bags tournament will be starting at 3:00 in front of Halftime. No fee to enter, winner gets a $50 Halftime gift card and it will be a double elimination tournament. If you can't access the spreadsheet, just message me and I'll get you entered and let me know before we start at 3. We have four entered so far and will take entries all the way up before the first match.
Halftime will be providing a Beer garden as well and they will be hosting live music from Lucas Beebe at 4 and Grind at 7. Our food vendors for Saturday will be Pho Wheels. The Pleasantville Dance Team will be providing a crafts table for the kids which includes tattoos, face painting, a dinosaur craft and a bouquet craft.
Crush Nutrition will be selling teas as well.
Tassi Fuson will be hosting a Dime Toss game and there will also be a Girl Scouts table selling cookies. We will have a group selling chips, water, and soda.
The BBQ contest judging will start at 5:00 and they will serve their food after the judging finishes until it's gone. There will be freewill donation boxes set up at each meat station, similar to last year but with more than one now.
All proceeds to the Pig Out go to the Jasper Street Park Project and help keep this event coming back each year. None of this is city funded, alll the money comes from the PBO and our sponsors and it all run by volunteers who don't make a dime off this event.
We'd like to thank our Presenting Sponsor- McKay Group, a long with our other sponsors- People's Bank, Accura Healthcare, Southern Iowa Electric, Fareway of Knoxville and Michelle Green Reality.
If I left anyone out please message me, don't complain on another page. I will get you added. If anyone else wants to be a part of the Pig Out, feel free to reach out to me as well.
