Our world needs more joy.
It’s why I spent every free second for 12 months a few years ago turning an old construction truck into one a party on wheels.
It’s why I carve out what little free time I have to go spread joy and hope to neighborhoods in my city.
It’s why I love to share my love for music and the experiences it brings to humanity.
Sometimes I wonder if this is a distraction from everything else God has invited me into, and then I go out for a few hours and meet incredible people, have buckets of fun, and see the dream that was only a dream 4 years ago, in reality and bringing others….JOY.
I love life, and I love to share that love with others.

78%. That is how much more likely a millennial from a married home is to remain religiously affiliated compared to one coming from a divorced or broken home. And religious affiliation is steady over the past 3 decades from those raised in married homes.
It's like Pope John Paul II was not waxing poetic when he said, "as goes the family, so goes the nation, and so goes the whole world in which we live."
It is not rocket science. If we promote, elevate, and build strong marriages and families, we get strong cultures, societies, and nations. If we don't, we should not be surprised when chaos follows.
How can you promote, elevate and build strong marriages and families today? They are the backbone of our present and the backbone of our future. Time to act like it.

Rich Mullins is incredible. If you’ve not watched the documentary of his life, it is time well spent.
He was a radical that challenged the safe.
He was a rebel that challenged the comfortable.
He was a Christian the challenged Christian culture.
He was a Jesus lover who challenged society.
He was a nomad who challenged the stable life.
He was a poor man, who lived a wildly rich life.
He was too conservative for the liberal progressive.
He was too liberal for the traditional conservative.
When I watched his documentary I saw Jesus.
Here’s to living a little more like Rich Mullins today.

Dreams are funny things. And it can feel so immaterial, unmeasurable, insurmountable to put a dream into action.
But the only way forward is to take one step. And then another. And another.
On my left arm I have the words, “My son, walk in power. The path will materialize beneath your feet.”
My life and career have felt something like Indiana Jones standing on the edge of an invisible bridge needing to trust an ancient word.
I have chosen with my life to follow an ancient Word. His name is Jesus. And He has been faithful in EVERY step.
The dream is to see my Church that I was born into, once again lose itself in worship of our Creator.
Take a step today, and let His PLANS and WILL become your dreams and visions.

TRUTH TUESDAY
Today has been a hard day. I feel off, out of place, unfocused, unorganized and distracted.
On top of that, a number of meetings and conversations this morning were filled with opportunity for healthy conflict, debate and decisions - and I DID NOT want to participate. Quite frankly, it felt like none of us did.
Reflecting this afternoon on a real-life circumstance that I failed as a leader to embrace, invite and encourage conflict, even to celebrate it reminded me of the importance of this principal and the opportunity now to get refocused, to level set with my team and to pursue conflict as a mode of growth.
In my experience, conflict is easy when I’m doing well. I can embrace it, understand it, give permission for it and celebrate it in my personal life and on my team. But when I’m not doing well, I usually am the first one to light it on fire and watch it burn.
How do you handle conflict? What is your response to hot debate at work when you’re on your game? How does it change when you’re tired, worn out or feeling burnt out?

I FREAKING LOVE JESUS. There, I said it. He changed my life, saved my life over 10 years ago now and my life has never been the same. I am who I am today because of Him and the love of my Father.
I ALSO FREAKING LOVE MUSIC. Music has been an outlet, an adventure, a pathway to share my story and live my dreams, along with so much more.
The power of music and the artists behind it to shape culture is incredible.
I have wanted to start curating playlists of the music that brings everything Jesus means to me and everything music means to me together and it’s finally happening.
The first one I would love for you to give a listen, a follow and maybe even a share is INDIE CHRISTIAN HIP HOP. My hope is that this is mostly a collection of artists you’ve never heard of that I believe are the next wave of dank beat makers and exceptional lyricists that tell the story and communicate the message of Jesus to a hurting and broken world.

LEADERSHIP TRUTH TUESDAY
As a young aspiring leader it’s tempting to feel like I have to figure it out on my own, like there’s no one assisting me on my own journey toward becoming a better leader, husband, father, friend.
To combat this, every Tuesday I try to remember one quote or nugget from someone who has come before me that I can lean on to stand on the shoulders of the giants in leadership I have at my disposal. As often as I remember I would like to share those insights with you.
So here’s today’s….this is pulled from an article titled, “What Leaders Really Do” by John P. Kotter published by the Harvard Business School.
Leaders press for change.
Managers promote stability.
Which is your tendency? To press for change? Or to promote stability?
Encouragement for today: STOP FIGHTING IT!
Stop fighting your tendency to manage or to lead and find ways this week to embrace and in fact ENCOURAGE those you work with who possess the opposite tendency to BRING IT everyday. Your opposite emphases are not at competitive odds with one another, in fact, they are mission critical to the survival and growth of your organization. Be the gift that you are - if your tendency is to lead, push the flippin’ limit already. If your tendency is toward management, be a source of stability for your team and peers.

What an awesome weekend with family and friends! We had a blast spending the weekend at the lake celebrating another 4th of July! We decorated cookies, rode horses with Nana, lit small and large fireworks and climbed rock walls all in a few days.
