Tarrant Co will only accept CERTIFIED COPY of the TDCJ ID card with the Affidavit of Absent Applicant.

The TDCJ ID card on this form is considered a CERTIFIED COPY. This is what the Law Library should be using when making the copy of the TDCJ ID card. Some counties will not accept anything else, Tarrant is one of those counties.

June 14th is Flag Day

Our wish for all our couples is longevity.

2022 0614 Joy & Michael (today)
2016 0614 Destiny & Da'Rell (6 yrs)
1976 0614 we said 'I DO'.
Today, 46 years later, I still DO.
(he's still here so I think he does too)

Ours is not a prison marriage but our sons have spent many years in TDCJ.

The ups and downs of every day life are hard enough when living side by side. When half of you is in prison you must work twice as hard to make a home and life for both of you, some with children and some without.

The love in your heart is not always enough. Your faith and your love of GOD gives you strength to endure the hardest of these times.

This is the only picture I have of my wedding day. This is also the reason we feel that all brides should have pictures on their special day. It's not the venue that makes the wedding, it's the love that makes the marriage.

Alabama Marriage Certificate no longer an option for TDCJ. If you have already done one, you may want to contact Alabama and/or TDCJ about the validity of it.

Effective May 18, 2022, BOTH signatures on the Alabama Marriage Certificate MUST be notarized by an Alabama notary, a Texas notary WILL NOT be accepted. Check the picture and/or the first question on Page 3 of 4 at the link below.

Per the Alabama Office of the Attorney General’s opinion issued May 18, 2022, a "Marriage Certificate form notarized by a notary public not authorized to notarize under the laws of the State of Alabama shall not be accepted for recording by an Alabama probate court. A Marriage Certificate form notarized by a notarizing officer of the U.S. Department of State is also not acceptable."

Heard that he was being transported from Boyd, my bride and I were there for her wedding. They went on immediate lock down.

A manhunt is underway for an inmate who escaped after he reportedly stabbed a correctional officer after he stole a Texas Department of Criminal Justice transport bus on Thursday afternoon, according to authorities with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.

Had to make last minute trip to Abilene to rescue 3 brides. The judge canceled for the third time and their licenses were about to expire. Hard, fast trip but 3 happy couples.

Online Visitation Portal Registration Open
Start Now! Soon In-person visitation appointment times will be able to be scheduled online! TDCJ has created an Online Visitation Portal to make it easier and faster to schedule visitation appointments with your loved ones.

The first step is creating a profile on this system so you will be ready to schedule visits when it opens for September visits.

Starting TODAY, Monday, August 16, 2021, family members can create a profile on the new Online Visitation Portal that will assist in appointment scheduling efforts moving forward.

URGENT INFO: Monday, May 17th

As you know things can change at any time with TDCJ. That being said AT THIS TIME, the marriage process will resume Monday, May 17th. (units will be notified by then) Unfortunately, it will NOT be contact but at least you can get married.

Make sure that you have a valid ID or copy of your Loved Ones TDCJ ID card; their birth certificate will work for Harris and Bexar County. IF you don't, they should submit an I-60 to the Law Library to get a copy of their TDCJ ID card 'for marriage purposes'.

Make sure that your Loved One has the Affidavit of Absent Applicant from the county where you will get the license, usually your home county. They should be able to submit it to the Law Library AFTER Monday, May 17th to get notarized and sent to you.

Once these are done, he should be able to start the marriage process. Everyone should receive a Jpay or email between now and the weekend so they should have full instructions by Monday, May 17th. Twogether material is being sent to those interested in taking the course to save $60 on the cost of your license.

HARRIS COUNTY requires an appointment to get the license, others may also so call your county for verification and to set it.

Marriage license can be bought at any Texas county and used anywhere in Texas. However some counties, Montgomery County, are only servicing their own residents at this time.
