Rest In Peace Tribute to one of my long standing friends in the business of karaoke, Mickey Martinez! I literally just learned of his passing, tonight, although he died in March of this year!
Years ago, as an honorary member of Kings of Karaoke & DJ Entertainment, I nicknamed him his famous karaoke performance name, “MICKEY NELSON” due to his dead-on, sound-alike impersonation and likeness to Willie Nelson!

Mickey Martinez, for many years, was also a karaoke host!

He helped me convert to digitalization of my Karaoke collection as LKOKDJE was one of the last karaoke companies in the area to convert from physical media, back in 2012 - 2013!

Mickey Martinez was very supportive of our karaoke business over the years, of LKOKDJE!

Thank you!

If there was ONE Karaoke host who could match or even go wilder with the performance antics with “THE MAN OF 1,000 VOICES” was this dude right here, MICHAEL ”BIG POPPA” BROOKS! LMBAOOOO!
“Big Poppa” even had his own extensive wig collection and he enjoyed joining in my performances! Sometimes I would put a James Brown wig on Mike and he would try to do the James Brown split after I would hit one…LOLL!

Legendary Kings of Karaoke & DJ Entertainment and Sean Ramon Montague pay tribute to the memory and pioneering efforts of MIKE ”BIG POPPA ”BROOKS of being one of the earliest Black karaoke hosts / company owners in the Baltimore area.
5 years before I launched Legendary Kings Of Karaoke & DJ Entertainment with my now former partners, Rod and Paul, and shortly after I debuted on the karaoke scene in Baltimore at The Corinthian, with Thomas Anthony as host, as I was performing throughout the DMV on the karaoke scene, in costumed characters as “The Man of 1,000 Voices”. Michael” Big Poppa” Brooks was one of the early pioneering Black karaoke business owners. Michael Brooks, Kay Anderson, JC , Pat Hoyte, Jean Ross, Bruce Barrett, and others launched their Black owned karaoke businesses inspired by Baltimore’s first Black owned Karaoke business owner, Chelle Shalom Lee!
”The Man of 1,000 Voices” performed everywhere….and it was Michael ”Big Poppa” Brooks who actually hired me to perform many of my customed performance impersonations at his venues throughout the nineties! This brother would even join in the fun of my antics as I performed as “James Brown”, “Sammy Davis, Jr.”, “Ray Charles”, ”Rick James”, “Bootsy” and many others!
”Big Poppa” was known far and for his hilarious, raunchy shows and performances!
Mike also successfully owned a traveling entertainment company and party bus and a limosine service!
