A private first dance — M + S recently celebrated they’re 1st wedding anniversary. So here’s a glimpse into their little world before they were introduced at their reception. After their ceremony, they shared a private dinner in the bridal cabin. Then practiced their first dance alone by fire. I loved watching them transition from this quiet moment together to going absolutely wild dancing with their friends (I posted a reel of their champagne spray a while back) 🪩 Their gallery holds 10-hours of moments that I also loved as their photographer (still so much more that I could share & I will), but this is one that comes to mind often!Wishing you both a lifetime of cozy dinners & dancing, loves 🥂#privatefirstdance #weddingreception #firstdance

I experience weddings differently now that I’m a mom. I look over at the parent’s faces & I can feel that look in their eyes — trying to grasp another fleeting moment happening in front of them.
I’ve known what it feels like to be a bride & that’s helped me be a better photographer (& support) for them.
But now that I have both a son & a daughter, I try to be a photographer for the parents too.
I don’t know what it’s like to have a child graduating or getting married yet.
But so far I know what it feels like to drop my daughter off at kindergarten & watching my son surprising us by learning how to walk at 7-months (my youngest baby was gone overnight!).
And what I’ve felt just in those moments, has me pausing a little extra now (when I can) on a wedding day to make sure the moms, & all the parents, get just one more look.
I remember my mom asking for that on my wedding day, & I didn’t understand it then, but I do now.
How do we plan a wedding around a quarantine?
The CDC recently suggested we shut down any event with more 50 people. What does that mean for weddings? What’s the first step? None of us have a roadmap for this. But we’re here with you on this. Myself, along with all my wedding-vendor-friends, love you & want to make your day happen just as much as you do. Let’s chat. Make a plan. Breath. Be kind & give grace. Focus on one foot at a time. We’re gonna celebrate life & love no matter what! 🎉
(if you need any advice, even if I’m not your photographer, plz reach out! There’s a lot of things I don’t know. But I know how to listen & I’ll try to help where I can.)
Xoxoxo forever ♾
