One of the things I love most about being a celebrant in Scotland is the freedom couples have to marry in places that are truly meaningful to them.

Derek and Katie chose Bruce’s Stone at Glentrool, near Newton Stewart, for their elopement. It was just the two of them, their witnesses Leanne and Colin, and me. Five people, standing together in a place of beauty and history, and it couldn’t have felt more right.

It may not look it in the photos, but the temperature hit 27 degrees that day! Scotland really does know how to surprise us. ☀️

You don’t need a big venue to make your wedding unforgettable. In Scotland, you can choose lochsides, forests, mountaintops, gardens, even tucked-away ruins. What matters is that the setting feels right for you.

Wenqing and Yuqing came all the way from China to have a truly personal Scottish celebration with just their family at Glasgow University Chapel. 💍

Although they were legally married in China, they wanted a Scottish ceremony to celebrate their love again, this time with meaningful touches they would always remember. I wrote personal vows for each of them, which they loved, and we included a hand-fasting and Quaich drinking tradition to make their day completely unique.

Scotland lets you marry almost anywhere, from chapels to lochsides, forests, mountaintops, or tucked-away ruins. You don’t need a big venue, just a spot that feels right and someone authorised to make it official.
