One of the things I love most about being a celebrant in Scotland is the freedom couples have to marry in places that are truly meaningful to them.
Derek and Katie chose Bruce’s Stone at Glentrool, near Newton Stewart, for their elopement. It was just the two of them, their witnesses Leanne and Colin, and me. Five people, standing together in a place of beauty and history, and it couldn’t have felt more right.
It may not look it in the photos, but the temperature hit 27 degrees that day! Scotland really does know how to surprise us. ☀️
With thanks to Derek Dunlop Photography for capturing the day so beautifully, and yes, Derek was not only behind the camera but also the groom!
You don’t need a big venue to make your wedding unforgettable. In Scotland, you can choose lochsides, forests, mountaintops, gardens, even tucked-away ruins. What matters is that the setting feels right for you.
If you’re dreaming of a unique outdoor wedding, I know a few hidden gems worth considering. 🌿
