Come for Rockstadt Extreme Fest 2025, stay for the jaw-dropping sightseeing.
Take a breather when in Brașov for REF 2025 and step into the refined elegance of Muzeul Casa Mureșenilor, known also as the Museum of the National Anthem —just a short stroll away in the historic Piața Sfatului. Housed in a donated 19th-century townhouse, this charming museum preserves the legacy of the influential Mureșianu family, a beacon of Transylvanian culture and politics. One of the most powerful links to Romanian national identity lies here: Andrei Mureșanu, a member of the family, was the author of the revolutionary poem “Un răsunet”, which became the lyrics to Romania’s national anthem, “Deșteaptă-te, române!”. Written in 1848, during a time of nationalist uprisings across Europe, the anthem was first sung in Brașov and quickly became a rallying cry for Romanian unity and independence.
Explore richly furnished rooms, original artworks, elegant antique furniture, and a vast archive of over 25,000 documents, including personal letters, manuscripts, and musical scores. Open Tuesday–Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM (Monday 11–17) and closed Sundays, the museum offers a peaceful, cultured counterpoint to the festival’s intensity. Tickets are a steal at 8 RON for adults or 2 RON for students and children, with a 25‑RON all-access pass covering several Brașov County museums. Don’t miss current exhibitions like “1001 aparate foto”, showcasing vintage photography gear—a visual treat even for metalheads.
So between the thunder of double kick drums and walls of distortion, take a moment to walk through history. Muzeul Casa Mureșenilor offers more than just old papers and portraits—it’s where a nation’s anthem was born, where revolution once simmered, and where you, too, can tune into Romania’s deeper cultural rhythm.
