About last weekend… nothing but good vibes at Doel Festival! Awesome setting, great crew and a lovely audience. It was really awesome to witness such positivity despite all the setbacks the organization had to deal with…

You might’ve read some articles about the residents… when I arrived at the festival, I saw a couple of neighbourhood residents standing outside. I decided to approach them and asked them about their feelings towards the festival and to my surprise they were all very positive and excited about the event. They told me most of the residents felt the same way. Too bad those positive voices didn’t receive any media attention. Guess the nay-sayers were proven wrong. 💅

March 20 = Norooz aka Persian New Year! To celebrate this special occasion, A***n Zand and his HUNA crew have invited me over for a little takeover on Radio Ruit in Ghent. I asked Sadaf to join me, so expect to hear some of our favorite Persian, Arabic, Afghan, Zaza, Kurdish and Turkish songs in a 1h mix. After our set, Mafi will take over the decks for another hour of quality music. Tune in this Sunday between 14h and 16h or join us live at Theresianenstraat 9, Gent for some drinks!

A*o Asın

A*o Asın is an Antwerp based DJ who’s into collecting and sharing music from all corners of the world: from '70s jazz-funk and prog-rock to '90s hip-hop and electronic music, anything goes. A*o Asın has carved a niche for himself over the last couple of years with his unconditional love for '60s and '70s music from Turkey. As a DJ, he has shared the bill with celebrated artists such as Shigeto, Om Unit, Clark, Da Poet, Barış K., Jameszoo, Lefto, Kutmah, Omar Souleyman, Selda Bağcan, and many others. His monthly residency at WAV Radio and guest appearances on Kiosk Radio, Studio Brussel, Noh Radio (Istanbul) and The Lot Radio (New York) showcase his versatility.

His Turkish influenced DJ set at Tomorrowland 2019 was called 'the most original DJ set' by Belgian newspaper De Morgen. Later that year A*o Asın made his debut in Red Bull Elektropedia Belgian DJ Top 100 by landing on the 34th spot.

In March 2020 A*o Asın was selected as one of the '101 New Talents' by Dutch newspaper NRC. Besides his activities as a DJ, he’s also a co-founder of Champion Sound, a Belgium based concept that serves as a platform for promoting talented, local beatmakers.
