Wishing my bride, Sandi, a very Happy 38th Anniversary! Couldn't be and wouldn't want to be doing this thing called life without you, my love:)

18/09/2024

Hey CHS 80's Reunion Choir folks! If you're gonna be at the Frog 'n Ferkin on Saturday night (10/5), I'd love to see you! However, due to my weekend gigs, Sandi and I won't be able to be there until around 9ish, so I hope some of you 'old folks' can hang out that late ... LOL! Also, just in case you're planning on making it a long weekend and getting into town on Thursday ... and need somewhere to get some outstanding Mexican food, Pina Coladas, Margaritas and, may I humbly say, some pretty decent music, I'll be playing at Mi Tierra (16238 N. Oracle) on Thursday from 5 to 8. Looking forward to seeing you ... 'where the roads come together':)

I want to wish Sandi, my lover, my friend, my wife a very happy birthday! Hey, that sounds like that would be a great song title ... oh yeah, I already wrote that one:)
"She's been my rock through the ages,
Right there on all the pages of my life,
She's the one I always turn to,
She's my lover, my friend, she's my wife.
She always stands right there beside me,
Like a star she's there to guide me through this life,
She's the one I always turn to,
She's my lover, my friend, she's my wife.
She's given everything just to make my dreams come true
Little does she know that happened when she said, "I do"
If love is the answer, she must be the question in my heart
It seems it took a lifetime to find the love I needed from the start
We've made it through the years by shedding countless tears,
That's how it goes
But we've always seemed to make it, there's no way that we could fake it, we both know
She's given everything just to make my dreams come true
Little does she know that happened when she said, "I do"
She's been my rock through the ages,
Right there on all the pages of my life,
She's the one I always turn to,
She's my lover, my friend, she's my wife."
Couldn't do this life without you, my love ... Happiest of Birthdays:))

Hey everybody, I haven't posted anything for a while, so just thought I'd do an update. My knee is doing fine ... still dealing with a bit of stiffness and need a little more flexibility, but that will come in the next few months. Still averaging 25 gigs/month ... just finished my 10th gig in 7 days today ... and have 4 more for the rest of this week. Also, Sandi and I have both been fighting colds for the past 3 weeks ... and yes, I can sing through a cold ... if it's not too devastating. Anyway, I'm still at Mi Tierra Thurs/Fri/Sat and 2nd and 4th Wednesdays ... would love to see you there:)

23/02/2024

Hey everybody! Here's an update on a couple of things. First, knee surgery recovery is going very well ... 7 weeks this Tuesday, no cane, no walker, swelling subsided considerably and still doing PT, of course. Second, my regular Fri/Sat night gig at Mi Tierra has now become a Thursday/Friday/Saturday night gig AND a 2nd and 4th Wednesday night gig as well! So, with all the fun things you do on the weekends, you now have an opportunity to take a midweek break for some outstanding Mexican food, excellent drink specials (buy one margarita or beer and get the second one for $1) and some pretty cool dinner music:) In addition to all that, I'm still doing several senior living venues plus the golf resort in Green Valley the 2nd Sunday of each month averaging 20 - 25 gigs/month. Yes, it's tiring, but you all know I love what I do .... and it certainly keeps this old guy from getting into too much trouble ... and yes, Sandi says we're still happily married:) LOL

06/02/2024

Just want to say a huge thank you to everybody for the many, many birthday wishes! I deeply appreciated every one of them:) Here's a quick update on my surgery recovery ... tomorrow (Tuesday, 2/6) will be 4 weeks since I went under the knife (or robot). I'm doing quite well ... walking without a cane (per my PT), still experiencing minor pain and continuing PT to work on extension and flexion. And the best part is that I'm back to my gig schedule ... I actually played my regular weekend gig at Mi Tierra 2 weeks after my surgery .... not bad for an old guy:) Anyway, it was nice to hear from so many of you:)

26/01/2024

Hey everybody! Thought I'd give a surgery/recovery update. Got a good report from my surgeon's assistant today ... x-rays look great, bruising is down (along with pain), still swollen, but nothing I can't deal with and ok to drive now (Sandi is relieved ... she doesn't like to drive much anymore). So, the really good news for me is that I will be easing back into my gig schedule starting this weekend at Mi Tierra ... YAY! I'll be there Fri/Sat nights now from 5 to 8 .... and this has been my regular weekend gig for 4+ years now:) Would love to see you there some time ...can't wait to get 'back in the saddle' again:)

10/01/2024

Surgery update: It went very well, we've been home for about four hours, took the recommended otc meds (tylenol/advil), iced and now just chillin' in the recliner. Been up and moving several times with the walker ... waiting for the real pain to kick in tomorrow:) Thank you all so much for the prayers and wonderful, heartfelt comments ... you are all so appreciated:)

08/01/2024

Well, I guess I should let everybody know that I will be 'out of commission' for a few weeks as far as my gigs go. I'm finally going to have my right knee replaced this Tuesday. I've been doing
PT for the last several weeks (thanks to the suggestion of a dear friend ... thanks, Marcia), so am hoping the recovery will move along a little easier ... I have gigs scheduled starting in February! I may be hobbling a bit, but I'll be there! Good thoughts and prayers would be appreciated:)

I'd like to thank all the CHS Choir alumni (and a few extra family members) who were able to join us at Winterhaven last night. I think we all had a good time and received some excellent response from the folks who stopped to listen to us. My sincere thanks to Shirley Maddox (Bishop, '82) for directing, as my two previous rotator cuff surgeries don't allow me to do that much anymore. Also, thanks to Stephen Gin and the Catalina Foundation for providing the caroling songbooks and refreshments at our rehearsal at Anne Morales' (Terry, '75?) home. And of course, our deep appreciation to Jeffrey Brown ('82) and the Brown family for hosting the performance at their home, which has become quite the tradition over the years (and for those of you who don't know, all five of the Brown siblings were in my choirs at CHS). Anyway, thanks to all of you who participated ... shall we do it again next year? ... where the roads come together ...

20/12/2023

Hey everybody! With the Christmas weekend coming up and all the relatives coming into town, I just want to remind you that if you're trying to decide what to do with all your family time, I'll be playing both Friday and Saturday nights at my regular Mi Tierra gig (16238 N. Oracle) from 5:00 to 8:00. Call for reservations at 520-825-3040. Would love to see you and meet some of the family:)

15/12/2023

My sincere thanks to those CHS Choir alumni who were able to sing 'Roads' with us today at Lee Schnebly's service. We had 15 people ranging in graduation years from '74 - '87 ... notice I didn't put age ranges ... LOL. I also know there were quite a few of you who really wanted to be there, but just couldn't make it, so we know you were with us in spirit:) I felt we did a pretty good job with only rehearsing it 2 or 3 times ... and it felt great to direct again (it's been a while since my two rotator cuff surgeries on my right shoulder) and Sandi said I was 'in my element'. Of course it was also a very emotional time as well. I never dreamed that song would mean so much to so many (including Lee) and touch all of our heart strings so deeply, so thanks to all of you for making that happen:) And for those of you that are not familiar with the lyrics and why it means so much, the primary message of the song is, 'I have a feeling that we'll meet some day, where the roads come together, up the way' ... and so we did!

13/12/2023

CHS Choir update for 12/13: It has been suggested that we all try to go somewhere after the service to mingle and catch up. If you are so inclined, I think a great place would be Vero Amore in the Palomino Plaza at Ft. Lowell/Swan. They have an outdoor patio that would be great .... AND ... bonus, bonus, bonus .... CHS Choir's own Sheryl Ann McKinley ('88) will be singing with her quartet starting at 5 pm. If you have not heard her phenomenal vocal stylings, you're in for a real treat:) Come join us if you can!

08/12/2023

Ok, CHS folks .... here's some more info regarding the Winterhaven party/songfest two weeks from tonight (the 21st). A few weeks ago as Jeffrey Brown was planning the entertainment for the week (as he always does), he asked me if I would be interested in playing a set of Christmas songs for one of the nights. My initial reaction was, no, it's just too much to get my gear in, set up, etc. However, with my bad knee (having it replaced January 2nd), I asked him if he could get us a pass to drive in and park at the Brown house. He agreed and then I thought, hey, I have a gig that afternoon, so I'll have all my gear with me. Soooooo, as it turns out, I will be playing a Christmas set at the Browns house at 8 pm ... and, of course, that would be AFTER the choir caroling and Hallelujah Chorus:) If you're interested and can stick around, that would be great ... and you're perfectly welcome to return to Anne Morales' house to continue the party there as well! It should be a fun evening:)

05/12/2023

Hey CHS Choir folks ...if you are planning on singing "Roads" with us in honor of Lee Schnebly at her service next Thursday, the 14th, please let me know for sure if you can. Michael Riley ('74) has offered to provide sandwiches for lunch and would like an approximate head count if possible. Looking forward to seeing you!

27/11/2023

Hey CHS Choir folks! If you haven't heard, the annual Christmas party/song fest will be on Thursday, December 21st. We'll do this like last year ... starting at the home of Anne Morales (Terry) at 6:00 pm for meet and greet, warmup, rehearse (what? rehearse?) and then carol our way over to the Browns' house for our 'standing room only' performance:) If you want to bring something to munch on, that's entirely up to you. Sure hope you can make it for this ... and, btw, all years are welcome:)

24/11/2023

Hey Tucson folks, if you are 'turkeyed out' and want a break, this is just a reminder that I'm still playing every Friday and Saturday night at Mi Tierra (16238 N. Oracle in Catalina) from 5 to 8. Outstanding Margaritas, Pina Coladas ... and the sea food menu is wonderful. It might be a nice change of pace ... just sayin':)
