On this day, we remember transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people who have died from anti-transgender violence and hate this year.
We also recognize that anti-transgender hate intersects with other forms of marginalization and that the demographic with the lowest life expectancy in this country are Black transgender women. Their life expectancy is 35.
We will not rest until we get to see all of our trans siblings grow old, too.
May we honor them by continuing to fight for a world that sees, welcomes, and values them as the gifts they are.
