A branch of University Activities Center (UAC), Big Ticket Productions (BTP) is the official event production committee on the University of Michigan's Ann Arbor campus. From booking the artist and venue to marketing and working backstage the day of the show, we provide Michigan students with university subsidized tickets for internationally known artists. it’s almost time! and will be playing a sold out power center TOMORROW!

please read the post carefully to prevent any possible issues at the door or removal from the venue. a full list of prohibited items is as follows:

Diner is a country singer/songwriter who grew up on a horse ranch in North Plains, OR. Her parents own a diner just outside Portland, where she’s worked her entire life. “I used to hide that I was just the local diner girl, working shifts with my parents… but I found the beauty in it. I was raised by a community of people who knew me before I could even see over the counter.”

Her grit and drive come from her mother, Helen, who fronted an all-girl punk rock band in the ‘80s. They started in a garage and went on to tour with bands like Black Flag and record with the Dead Kennedys. That same rebellious spirit, mixed with the heart of small-town country, fuels Diner’s sound.

Her music is inspired by the dream world she created in her mind to escape the long shifts at the diner. “Music lets me take from my reality and dream up my favorite scenarios. However random they are, they become real when I’m listening to music. I hope my songs can create that same feeling for others.”

Diner’s music has resonated widely, earning over 2m streams across platforms and landing her performances at Stagecoach, Dreamy Draw and NASCAR events. She is currently working on new music set for release in 2025.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT 003: singer songwriter .boike!! 🎤🎸🎹🍂📝

we were able to shoot some photos of her at her headline performance at the blind pig earlier this year! keep on reading for some of our interview bites 🫦

-who’s your biggest inspiration both inside and outside of music? 🌟:

Inside of music I’d have to say my biggest inspirations are Norah Jones and Joni Mitchell. I had never really listened to Joni Mitchell (a sin I know) until my guitar professor recommended her about a month ago and I was blown away. Outside of music, my friends inspire me the most honestly. Without them and their support I probably wouldn’t have pursued music the way I am and definitely wouldn’t be doing this interview haha. It’s hard to find people that really stick through it with you, but I’m glad I got so lucky :)

-which artist/band has the best stage presence that you’ve seen? 👩‍🎤👥

Hmmm this is a tough question. I sadly haven’t seen many live concerts lately but I did see lizzy mcalpine about a year and a half ago now. The concert and her performance was INCREDIBLE. There’s something so captivating about singer/songwriters and their guitar that you can’t always get with a full band you know?

-what’s your favorite/least favorite part of the song writing process? ✏️📝

Favorite part would be finishing the song haha. There have been times where I may only write one verse to a song and come back to it six months later. Other times it may only take me 20 minutes. It really just depends. Least favorite part is writers block or burnout. Sometimes you go to try and write something and it’s just not the day- or even the week. And forcing a song never really works.

-what are ways that we can help you beyond just reposting your stuff onto social media? 📲🎧

Stream da music :) and also come to performances! It means a lot to see people support local artists. And of course tell your friends!! 🫶

One final note I have is there are some things coming up in January so keep an eye out for that… 👀
