Classics Remixed: 2024 - Trance🔊🎉

The year wouldn't be complete without my annual collection of favorite remixes 🤩

I stumble across loads of these every week, and inevitably there's a lot of trash (you wouldn't believe....). But these are some of the ones I think are worth it 😀

Probably the most orginal is the Spinnaka rework of Faithless 'Insomnia'. I said at the time that I didn't think this song could be remixed anymore, but what a pleasant surprise - this bootleg presents it in a way i've not heard before 👍

Other tracks don't try to mess with the formula much, but freshen them up with contemporary approaches and production values.

Shout out to Simon Doty and Exotek who have managed to get tracks in both End Of Year mixes. Busy people indeed!

My 'new releases' playlist is rapidly filling-up, so it won't be too long before i'm back with a January 2025 selection 😲

End Of Year: 2024 - Progressive Trance🔊🎉

Here's 90 minutes of personal favorites from 2024, for your listening pleasure! 😉

It can be a frustrating balancing act with these episodes. Choosing say 20 best tracks and forcing them together doesn't work. You have to select from a larger pool, and create a viable mix as you go along.

Saying that, somewhat inevitably, certain artists and labels push themselves to the front because they've been all over 2024. Exotek must be the 'breakthrough' artist of the year, with releases on JOOF and Forescape (probably my 'go to' record labels) 😀

December 2024 - Progressive Trance 🎶🎧

Welcome back! 👋 The final regular episode of 2024 sees some of the big names from the last 12 months delivering once again: Basil O'Glue, Exotek, Enlusion and Airwave, on labels like JOOF and Forescape. Top work all round 😀

A few classics have been remixed too - Paul Sawyer does a great job refreshing Felix 'Don't You Want Me' (bootleg download link below). And there's another remix of Castle Trancelott 'Indoctrinate', although i've reached saturation point with this track now. No more please! 🛑

'Renaissance' Mix Classics - Progressive Trance🎧🎵

30 years ago this month, 'Renaissance: The Mix Collection' was released 😲 Arguably the first and best CD mix compilation (and the first one I ever bought). It was put together by Sasha and John Digweed to give people a taster of the music being played at the Renaissance club nights in the UK.

It raised the profile of the club and spawned a whole series of CDs and offshoots, and a record label. It also brought the Renaissance sound to the attention of many new listeners, like myself.

This mix comprises a trancey selection of songs from across those CDs (Mix Collection 1,2 & 4, Worldwide: London, and Awakening, to be specific! 🧐).

Slap, bang in the middle of progressive trance territory, please enjoy an eclectic set from across the decades! 😅

This is not a popular tempo, but there's too many big names for me to skip it, so I did a bit of crate digging and came up with a few hidden gems and rarities to create a set 😉

I can't help but have a soft spot for THK's "France" because it reminds me of a more 'innocent' era (for want of a better word) when these sounds were new 🥲
