On this weekend in Wigan in 1972 - The Bickershaw Rock Festival attended by 60,000 rock music fans. The weekends line up included Grateful Dead, Captain Beefheart, Hawkwind, The Kinks, The Incredible String Band, Family, Donovan and Wishbone Ash.
In part organised by Jeremy Beadle. The audience members included teenagers Joe Strummer and Elvis Costello.

The Damned and The Adverts were expected to Play Wigan Casino on their 77’ UK tour, On June 25th. Sadly was not to be the case, as prior to the Gig Dave Vanian, of the Damned, dislocated his shoulder having been rolled down the stairs of a guest house in a pram!
