Don't miss this incredible evening of powerful music from around the world at the Millvale Food + Energy Hub this Saturday, November 2.

Come hear Iranian multi-instrumentalist Kamyar Arsani (aka Faraway Ghost) and Indian-American percussionist Ravish Momin (AKA Sunken Cages) create their own brand of digital folk music, inspired by Sufi poetry, street rhythms from Mumbai and infused with electronic sound design to frame their songs. Kamyar was also active in the Women/Freedom/Life movement in Iran and continues to advocate for social-justice causes. Joining Kaymar and Ravish will be Pittsburgh-based Social Justice Disco, comprised of music-veterans Phat Man Dee (voted Best Jazz Performer in Pittsburgh City Paper Readers’ Poll for multiple years) & Liz Berlin (founding member of triple-platinum selling band Rusted Root), have continued to push musical boundaries to craft songs inspired by Folk, Disco, Jazz and global music traditions. With a vision of a world where all people have an opportunity to live free and be themselves without fear of oppression, this duo has birthed a soundtrack of both original and disco classics featuring a wide array of voices from across Pittsburgh’s musical and activist communities, to uplift those who would join this international struggle against racism, environmental destruction, war, religious intolerance, misogyny, homophobia, and fascism.

To all whoever dined, celebrated, laughed, worked or helped out at Sprezzatura - enjoyed dinner, answered the phone, threw a party, told a story, fed the hungry, tipped the staff, wore a mask, poured wine, drank wine, picked up a platter, welcomed musicians, sang Happy Birthday, met someone new - we just want to say thank you ❤️ So much love, goodness, art, friendship, family, and kindness has happened in this room.

We came to Millvale in 2017 to collaborate with New Sun Rising and 412 Food Rescue along with EvolveEA and ATK Design Studios to create a space for community and cooking, opening our cafe in late 2019. 🇮🇹 It has been a journey, and the journey continues:

This week, we completed moving into a big, bright kitchen with a lot of promise, on the beautiful campus of the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. We are excited for this new opportunity to cook deliciousness and develop the Seminary’s hospitality program with Pittsburgh Pie Guy and Benjamin Bishop Pastry Chef. It’s an expansive space to grow our program of dinners, events, catering, classes, and community service, and we are grateful for this exceptional opportunity. While we will continue co-operating Millvale Market, we will miss daily smiles from our fellow Millvale shopkeepers, friends, and colleagues - we love you all.
