Taking a moment to remember Dave Sweetapple, a friend to so many around the world.
While best known for his work in Witch and Sweet Apple (who memorably made their debut at Roky's Ice Cream Social in 2010), Dave also helped steer so many bands in the scene. He was the glue and connective tissue for countless tours, albums, art and music projects around the world. Our time working and hanging with Dave was brief, but you could tell he was the kind of guy who left the room brighter and smiles bigger, every time. All around great dude, huge talent and huge loss for music. So sorry to all his friends and family, he was one of a kind.

Synthesizer is the title of the seventh album from A Place To Bury Strangers. It is also a physical entity, a synthesizer that you too can own (in part), if you buy the record on vinyl. The cover is a circuit board made in conjunction with Death By Audio Effects that can be built into an actual synthesizer, and is the same synthesizer used on the recording of every song on the album. ‘Synthesizer’ is the closest approximation to seeing the band live thus far in their catalog, and is completely produced, recorded, and mastered by frontman Oliver Ackermann on his own label Dedstrange.

Happy birthday to Roky Erickson - he would be 77 years old today. Roky and the Elevators left a massive and influential legacy on the music world, and Ausitn, Texas. Roky is our musical hero, an icon of all that is weird and wonderful in art and rock and roll, and LEVITATION wouldn’t exist without him. Thank you.
We wish we could see him sing again but you can bet you’ll be hearing some Roky and Elevators’ classics between sets at LEVITATION 2024 this Halloween weekend! Always.
