Beyond his frontline service, Alan's roles as an instructor, Advanced Life Support Instructor, and Paramedic Team Leader have left a lasting impact.

As he prepares for retirement later this year, Alan's dedication continues with plans to work part-time as a paramedic.

Meet Julie Walker, the heart and soul of Tobermory Pharmacy at NHS Highland. 💙

Julie moved to the beautiful Isle of Mull seven years ago and quickly became an essential part of its close-knit community, which consists of 3,600 residents.

Her commitment to patient care knows no bounds. During the pandemic, she coordinated vital medicine deliveries, introduced a dosette box scheme, and provided extensive training to her team in vaccinations and more.

Meet Jackie McKechnie, a true healthcare hero! 💙

For 40 years, she has gone above and beyond as a nurse at University Hospital Hairmyres. Despite enduring two heart attacks and recently retiring after heart surgery, Jackie's kindness knows no bounds.

She knitted teddy bears with NHS badges, raised funds for patient essentials, and purchased toys for children in need.

Meet the finalists 💙

Annette Heary was born in the same year as the NHS and is still working for them at the age of 75. She retired at 63 but was asked to return a year later, and she now serves as a ward clerk at East Lothian Community Hospital.

"People come in for procedures and are shaky. I reassure them, and the nurses do the same, so they walk out smiling. It's the best part of my job. I don't know when I'll retire."

Meet Crawford Niven, a visionary Scottish farmer who turned skeptics into sunflower lovers on his northern farm in Gloagburn Farm in Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Three years ago, he dreamed of creating a sunflower-lined pathway, and today, he's living that dream with a quarter-million sunflowers adorning his fields. Visitors from as far as Australia flocked to witness this stunning spectacle!

Crawford's inspirational journey from doubt to creating a dazzling reality has been putting smiles on the faces of both locals and tourists alike! 🌻💫

Throughout the pandemic, Gemma went above and beyond, volunteering at the hospital alongside her official role. Her efforts focused on uplifting the mental health and well-being of patients during these challenging and often isolating times. Gemma was a very worthy winner! 💙

This award recognises the incredible bravery of the late Barry Martin, who protected our country and our people as a firefighter with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
