Preserving them like pressed flowers. Looking back in 50 years time - tracing your fingers over the pages of the album - hands held - together.

Self empowerment shoots are not just for when you feel like you've 'finished' the journey of self love. ... because let's face it... that journey is lifelong. A lifelong battle against the conditioning that has been so integral to our lives and the way we see ourselves, that it's not uncommon to grow up watching our mothers and sisters and friends picking themselves apart - daily.
I see these photoshoots as a way to transcend the brainwashing. Turning your body into a piece of art is a glorious act of rebellion. And it will help you to realise that you are so much more than a 'to do' list of things to fix.

I am obsessed with these photos. I am obsessed with the way the light paints a landscape across the body. I am obsessed with the female form. The soft curves and valleys and the texture of the skin. I am obsessed with women who say F yes to loving their bodies, embracing their pleasure and celebrating themselves. I am obsessed with the strength of women and the resilience, courage and grace with which they navigate life's hardships. Women. I am just quite simply... obsessed.

I used to be so scared to shoot in harsh light. Tbh I still don't recommend it for couples shoots (working to get 2 people's faces in the right light vs shadow ratio can take away from the flow of the shoot). But for self empowerment sessions I now seek it out. I love the drama it creates. Its the way the shadows contour the shapes of the body and give more depth than if it was a flat image shot in even light. Emphasising the deliciousness of every curve.

I just realised I've been a little quiet on the posting front - mainly because I have been losing my mind editing the shots from all these gorgeous women from the self empowerment shoots I held over the weekend.
My cup is so full. Everyone brought such a unique energy to their shoot and man oh man was it all just 10/10 high vibes!!!
I love this work 🥰

This was just too much freaking FUN! So I'm going out on a limb here. Normally I ask my couples to pick 5 songs for their vid and then I choose the best 2 or 3 to work with. These bloody slackers haven't given me anything yet - but I just felt like this was the right song choice for them.
