When planning this years installation for Smythson sustainability was the deciding factor for our design.
The display is all planted English grown from & , supplemented with a small amount of Dutch imports from from . When we dismantle at the end of the week donations of plants, trees, pots, wheelbarrow, aricula theatres and raised beds will be made to and a community garden in Kensal. Road W10. The turf will be composted.

Found this treasure. A book of advice for buying and arranging flowers from 1862. A wonderful chapter on buying from Covent Garden Market with names of traders mentioned who still have connections to the market today. Flowers were grown in Tottenham, Battersea, Camberwell and Edmonton to sell in Covent Garden. Flowers were held in place using sand and modelling clay. The two tier stand was called the ‘March Stand’ and was the most popular style for dinner and party table flowers.
