Paperly was born about 6 months after I became a NYC-transplant smack dab in the center of IL. My fiancé and I had known each other for about 8 years, had been dating for almost 4, engaged for almost 1, and it was about time to put the end to the long-distance-game. The tearful airport goodbyes and sad slump after seeing each other for 36 hours at a time (that we appropriately du
bbed "The Sads") was getting a bit old. When I was little, I would plop down on the kitchen floor with magazines, blank paper, and adhesive of some sort and make endless amounts of collages. I was always doing something artsy, and always knew that I wanted that to be a part of my life. In grad school, one design professor told me that I needed to stop being an artist and stop being a designer (interesting, right?). Fast forward a few years later, having found an incredible job, I was living on my own in NYC. Commuting 2 hours a day was taking its toll, and with some chronic health problems to contend with, I found that by the time the evenings or weekends came around, all I wanted to do was sleep, eat pizza, and binge watch Orange is the New Black. I still do a lot of those last 3 things, but I work from home remotely for my job in NYC, which has been the biggest blessing that I'm so incredibly grateful for. It has given me the time to expand my hobbies beyond sleeping, eating pizza, and Netflix'ing. Paperly's goal is two-fold. First and foremost, we look to provide our customers with extremely customizable, high-quality, paper party goods. We want to help add meticulous details to your party without adding stress to your party planning. Second, we get to exercise our artsy bones, and hand-make every product. There's something fabulously satisfying about being a part of someone's special day and hopefully helping it sparkle a bit brighter.
