Plot: T.S. (Jeremy London) and his best friend, Brodie (Jason Lee), take a trip to the mall after their girlfriends break up with them. T.S.'s girlfriend, Brandi (Claire Forlani), is participating in a dating game show at the mall, which was the initial cause of their breakup. Meanwhile, Brodie's ex, Rene (Shannen Doherty), has begun dating sleazy store manager Shannon (Ben Affleck). T.S. and Brodie seek out ways to ruin the game show, hunted all the while by Brandi's father, Jared (Michael Rooker).

On events.
On art.
On books.
On movies.
On whatever.

Work together.

It's so hard to get things out into the world, and when you're doing something that's collaborative at its heart, you need to be able to rely on folks that aren't going to find a way to profit from you or screw you over.

Make those connections and treat those folks right.
Things are only getting harder for creatives, so we need to be able to lean on one another, speak with one another, and tip one another off to spaces or opportunities.

It's the only thing this stuff works!

Just a reminder - be very, very careful with your social accounts. Another friend lost their account to some chicanery and tomfoolery of a scam artist and it's screwed their life and livelihood up. Dealing with the broken machinery of Meta is no fun - I went through this with the old FMS page, darn it! - and you may simply lose your page/contacts/ and whatever else you wanted from the page.

Be very, very careful on links you click and scammy messaging you'll get on here.

It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch. We would appreciate some privacy at this time. There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, “Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.”

It still bothers me that after nearly 20 years of doing things in Flint it's still very much a - who do you know - situation as far as getting a venue. There are so many great spaces that either see no benefit in inviting arts and events in or they only do it for people they know.

And I get it, you don't want strangers crapping on your rug, as it were, but you also close things off and create gatekeeping this way. The city has had too much of that, especially in the arts and culture space.

What I will say is that in my years of doing things I have never had an easier time working with folks than with the Flint Local 432. They are open-minded, welcoming, and want to have people doing cool things there. Their calendar fills pretty quickly but that proves that there are not enough available spaces for folks. FREE (or very affordable) spaces where you can put on shows that benefit everyone and aren't about making money from being a promoter.

Heck, we don't even really have the "hole in the wall" bars that bigger cities have that welcome weirdo events just to get people in the door.

This is a rad area with amazingly creative people.
Let's friggin' embrace that for a change.
