If an attacking team player remains stationary between the goalposts and inside the goal when the ball enters the goal, a goal must be awarded UNLESS the player commits:
➡ an offside offence (Law 11) e.g. interferes with a defender or the goalkeeper
➡ a foul or misconduct (Law 12) e.g. trips a defender
in which case play is restarted with an indirect or direct free kick.
The referee can also take disciplinary action against the offender (depending on the exact circumstances e.g. yellow card if the attacker shouts to distract the goalkeeper).
