With this trend of it raining every single Saturday this fall wedding season let’s talk about it!
If outdoor photos is something that is really important to you, but it’s raining, don’t worry! Nine times out of ten we can make it work!
From my experience, when it rains, it’s never consistently rains for the entire day. There is always a short pause at some point of our 10 hours together. We might have to just wait for our moment. Forget the timeline just grab those photos while you can. I prioritize the bride and groom. The bridal party and family we can shoot inside. We did all of these photos of Olivia and Pete in about 15 minutes before the rain picked up again.
But it’s wet outside?! Well yea, it’s going to be. It’s been pouring all day. My answer to that is how bad do you want outdoor photos? If you’re more worried about your hair and makeup and that’s your priority then don’t do it. If outdoor photos is your priority, then pack a curling iron and let’s go. Your wedding photos are forever, you can touch up your hair and makeup.
A few tricks we use when the ground is wet- don’t put the dress down. Holding the dress looks just as good as spreading it out. Shoot close ups- that way you can’t see that your holding your dress. If you want to spread your dress out, ask your venue for a table cloth to lay the dress on top of. Olivia has a white table cloth that I asked the maitre d to give to me so I could spread her dress out. Would you have known that if I did t tell you? Clear umbrellas! They make beautiful photos and a fun prop!
Lastly, just embrace it. We can’t control the weather but we can control our emotions towards it. You will enjoy your day and your photos so much more if you just throw your hands up say it is what it is and enjoy it!
Okay very last tip! When you have rain in the morning it usually makes for the most amazing sunset at night. I promise. I work with the weather everyday. The best sunsets are always after a morning storm. ☔️🌨️
