Raised in a Mexican-German household, he soon got in touch with a broad variety of Latin-American music-culture. From 2001 till 2002 he worked for „Ritmo“, the Latin music show on Germanys first music channel VIVA TV. end half a year in São Paulo where he connected with the city's urban music culture. He ended up writing his master thesis on the „Marginal Discourses in São Paulo's Hip Hop Scene” in 2011. Since 2005 Daniel Fernando Wahl has been actively contributing to Cologne's nightlife under his DJ-name Daferwa. In 2007 he founded the MASH IT UP! platform in Cologne. 2009 Daferwa became resident DJ and freelancing author for WDR COSMO fka WDR Funkhaus Europa (Germanys N°1 public radio station for Global Pop Music). Since 5 years he has been contributing to the Selektor Show, a show dedicated to DJ and producer culture. He wrote programs and conducted in-depth interviews with names like Emicida, Criolo, Seu Jorge, Sergio Mendes, Marcelo D2, Karol Conka, Ed Motta, Mexican Institute of Sound, Lila Downs, Molotov, Celso Piña, Anibal Velasquez, Mayra Andrade, Branko just to name a few. For 12 years Daferwa has been playing and networking in the global music scene and founded his nights such as Mash It Up! He startet the night Global Lokal at Schlachthof Krefeld in 2011, which became the monthly COSMO Club in 2013. Same year he began to do monthly COSMO Clubs at the KIT Bar in Düsseldorf. Daferwa has been sharing decks with Branko, Pedro, Toy Selectah, Uproot Andy, Dengue Dengue Dengue, Clap! Clap!, Quantic, Gilles Peterson, Jose Marquez, Romare, Jus Now, Schlachthofbronx, Daniel Haaksman, iZem, Murlo, Swing Ting ft. Fox, Sabo, Mo Laudi, Murlo, Frikstailers, Rocky Marsiano, Captain Planet, Moods, Big Dope P, DJ Ripley, Umoja, Symbiz, Matanza, DJ Mellow, Jeremy Sole, Poirier, King Doudou, Maga Bo, Cocotaxi, Pigmalião, Milangeles, BBrave, Hety & Zambo, Soulforce, Munchi, KD Soundsystem, Afriquoi, Mo Laudi, Philou Lozolo, Emily Dust, Poté, Flavia Coelho and many other artists.
2016 he co-founded the yearly event DOMINGO DE CUMBIA which is dedicated to all kinds of Cumbia and to all the Cumbia-lovers, it’s a familia -day-event with live-music, Soundsystem and food. Lately Daferwa is taking his time to produce remixes and tracks with his studio-partner in crime Sam Bow alias Samuel Tegaro. First official remix for KD Soundsystem was released in June 2018. To support one of his resident club Schlachthof Krefeld, Daferwa compiled the 24 track Sampler called Cosmo Club Corona Compilation (CCCC) 2020 featuring 24 tracks by producers of past editions of the Cosmo Club in Krefeld.
