As we our approaching our Gala Ball, and the ticket sales deadline of 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟏𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, I feel it’s fitting to share this moving campaign that launched yesterday. This campaign is ran by another mental health charity which has displayed balloons in Westfield in recognition of all the people over the last decade who have taken their own lives because of their mental health.

Mental health isn’t just defined by su***de, it can be as little as struggling to get out of bed in the morning, finding yourself crying everyday, or even just being anxious about going into work and sitting in an office all day. But if things escalate and help isn’t readily available, some people feel they are left with no option but to give up the fight.

This is the reality for many families nowadays. The ages on the balloons show the variety of people mental health is overtaking. Kids with lives ahead of them but have lost all joy in everyday things, or adults with families that life becomes too much. Our priority with our Gala Ball is to get the name out there about these 2 amazing charities we are raising money for.

We have so many amazing things planned for the raffle and auction and can’t wait to see how much we can raise together. But our main priority is minimising the amount of balloons needing to be displayed, advertising help is available and there are people waiting to free the burdens that take over peoples lives.

So all we ask, is share this with friends and family, work colleagues, neighbours, come together for the evening of our Gala Ball, fill the room with a desire of wanting to make a difference and love shown for people who have experienced mental health struggles within themselves or a family member or sadly lost someone to it.

Mind Your Head Community Fun Day ☀️

In the run up to our Gala Ball in September, we are organising a Community Fun Day on Saturday 24th August from 11am-2:30pm @ Ganaway Activity Centre Millisle. This is an opportunity to have a head start of raising vital funds for Uhub counselling services and Sports Mental Health NI before our Gala Ball.

This event is for all ages, our Gala Ball is more for adults and we wanted to ensure kids and families could still participate in raising funds for these charities, whilst getting to have fun in the sun (hopefully 🤞☀️)

All being well, the day will consist of Tea/coffee/ juice and refreshments, Crazy Golf ⛳️ , Bouncy Castle 🏰 , Face Painting 🎨, Mini fair games 🎳, a Car wash 🫧, and a mini market with various items available to buy.

With this event there is no initial entry cost, it’s free for anyone to come to and enjoy, instead there will Individual costs for the activities, car wash and tea/coffee etc, as well as donation codes around the site, so that you can give as much or as little as you can. Any money raised from this event will all be going to these two charities.

So this year for your August bank holiday, instead of heading away, or up the coast or the beaches, come along to our community fun day, stay for as long as you wish and help us have a head start at raising vital funds for these charities before our main event, the Gala Ball 🖤

Please share this event with any of your family, friends, schools, sports groups, church groups and plan to come along together. We have printed flyers and posters if you prefer one of them, contact any of our socials or email. 😊

See you there,

What made you want to be a part of the team?

I think we all have been affected at some point in our own lives or family & friends' lives and being part of something to raise awareness about these incredible charities is just amazing! You just never know what someone is battling but im so glad to be a part of raising awarness about mental health and that there is always support and someone to talk to no matter what.

Without giving away too much what are you most excited for about the Mind your Head Gala Ball?

Where do i start?! the time and effort going into the planning of this night by the team is just amazing It will definitely be one heck of a night to remember! you do not want to miss this! We are all so excited to be sharing this special evening for such incredible charities ❤️

What made you want to be a part of the team?

Seeing first hand the struggles nowadays of receiving help with your own mental health, I wanted to be able to make awareness for these amazing charities and raise as much money for them as possible.
Mental health often goes unseen, you hurt yourself physically, your doctor immediately sees to you, within a few days you’re back to yourself. Mental health gets pushed aside, no one often sees it until people are suffering, and in silence because there is such a lack of help available. This event couldn’t be more important in raising awareness to people that there are charities available to help you.

Without giving away too much what are you most excited for about the Mind your Head Gala Ball?

I am so excited to see all our plans come into action, the atmosphere in the room and everyone all dressed up for an amazing night. I can’t wait to see how much money we can raise together for these two charities 🪩🖤

What made you want to be a part of the team?

As someone who has struggled in the past with mental health, when Gareth asked for my support organising this event, I couldn’t not be a part of something that can really help make a difference to those who suffer in our local communities. Reaching out for help can be a really difficult step for some people and I hope with this event it will really raise plenty of awareness for people to realise they are not on their own, and that they have a massive support network around them, always! We have been working really hard behind the scenes to make this a night to remember and can’t wait to see you all there 🖤

Without giving away too much what are you most excited for about the Mind your Head Gala Ball?

This is a really tricky question, because I really can’t wait for the entire evening!! 😁 I’m really excited to see so many people in our local communities coming together to share such a special night for such a great cause.

I’m also really looking forward to Fifth Avenue playing and having a good dance! 💃🏻 🕺🏻 🪩

What made you want to be a part of the team?

I always wanted to raise money for charities that were close to my heart but I didn't know how I wanted to do this. Then in 2018, I organised a formal in aid of Chest Heart and Stroke, raising £1000. Fast forward to 2022, my family and I organised another formal and raised over £6500 for Cancer Research UK. Having my own personal experiences and seeing family members and close friends face their own battles with Mental Health, I thought that it would be a great idea to assemble a team and raise money for our two incredible chosen charities SPORTS Mental Health NI and UHub Counselling Services. To think that there are so many people throughout Northern Ireland and the UK who think that the only way out is to take their own lives is absolutely heartbreaking and if we can raise as much money as humanly possible to help these two incredible charities help those who need it the most even in the slightest way possible, I'll go to sleep on Saturday 28th September a happy man.

Without giving away too much what are you most excited for about the Mind your Head Gala Ball?

Getting suited and booted, having an unforgettable night with my family and friends, watching Fifth Avenue take to the stage and everything else on the night will be GREAT... BUT...Seeing so many people together in the one room with one main objective of raising money for these two charities will be the highlight of it all.

If you've not got your tickets, GET THEM NOW 🖤

A bit of a different post this evening.

This week is a very significant week that isn’t advertised enough. This week Monday 13th May - Sunday 19th May is Mental Health Awareness Week.
Mental health can be such a debilitating feeling for someone when they experience troubled periods. Often this gets overlooked by GPs and Doctors and this is where charities such as ‘Sports Mental Health NI’ and ‘uHub Counselling Services’ are even more important in supporting vulnerable people through difficult times.

Our main focus with this upcoming Gala Ball is to be able to support these charities, have their name out there for people to remember if they ever feel they need them and raise as much money as possible to support as many people as possible.

Mental Health shouldn’t just be recognised for one week. Every day we should constantly be remembering people who suffer in silence, who feel they can’t reach out or have continuous anxiety or depression symptoms that they are fighting off everyday.
Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. Your Mental Health is everything, prioritise it! But remember you are not alone and there are people ready to help, at anytime.

Come along to our Gala Ball and give these charities as much help as you can, to ensure everyone has a chance at getting the help they need.

Send us a private message or comment below with any questions or ticket enquiries.

It’s ok not to be ok ❤️
