Who’s Alex Shock? ⚡️
“A bold soul with an electric heart and an eccentric palette on a pursuit for addicting grooves to share with the world.”
That’s how Alex Shock describes himself as a DJ. He isn’t afraid to step up to the plate to provide for his own happiness and the happiness of others, a recipe that calls for one-half serving of good vibes, two cups of unity, and a hint of love. Shaped by the music that he grew up with, such as Top 40 Pop (Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Maroon 5), Hip Hop/Rap (Eminem, Notorious B.I.G., Chris Brown), Latin (Selena, Pitbull, Daddy Yankee), Alternative rock (Foster the People, Linkin Park, Modest Mouse) and Electronic Dance Music (Skrillex, Daft Punk, Justice, Gorillaz), Alex has developed a vast palette that would become a huge influence into what has now been his love for DJing. Today, he plays music that infuses these different genres with booming basslines, spine-tingling synth melodies, and the occasional loop of vocals, all on top of an infectious house-beat.
Alex Shock is a unique and diverse member of his community. His intuition with music allows him to tune in and hear the pulse of the city as he gets a feel of the West Texas night life, an atmosphere of Tex-Mex culture that he infuses into his sound. By having such an individualistic sound, he’s not limited to only playing clubs, weddings, parties, and even boxing matches, his love of music is just more than mixing one tune with another and as a music lover, Alex has found plenty of ways to express his passion and aspiration of music. He is the night host/DJ of the award-winning pop station 103.3 KISS FM in the Permian Basin (Odessa/Midland, Texas), providing music news and promoting local events within the community along with the best and current hits in America. Alex was also the music director of the University of Texas at the Permian Basin’s developing radio station, MyFalconRadio, the Permian Basin’s very first college-ran station in history before he graduated from UTPB, and to top it all off, he is the host of two podcasts, A Moment of Shock (a monthly mix of Electronic Dance Music), and A House for a King (monthly mix of House music), both found exclusively on Mixcloud.
