Special Day Films Let us capture the small details of your big day! Please note, these prices are for weddings within a 50 mile radius of York.

We take tremendous pride in our work and our prices are based on the time and care we’ll be putting into the finished product. We don’t have rigid price packages, we prefer to be more flexible so that you get a video or series of videos that are tailor-made for you and capture the parts of the day most important to you. We have two options which we use as a jumping-off point; you tell us if there’

s anything you’d like adding in, changing, or taking out entirely, and we will put together a price for your totally bespoke video package. Also, aerial footage is dependent on favourable weather and permission from your venue! Option one: £1015

- Highlight video (roughly 5 minutes long)

- 3 copies on eco-friendly USB sticks, with upgrade options

- Option to add pre-wedding time capsule video

This option includes the ceremony and speeches in full (we believe these are a must-have!) plus a 5 minute highlights video with shots from the whole day. I arrive at 11am-ish, ready to capture the atmosphere and excitement of you and your guests, and I’ll stay until 9pm-ish. You’ll get three copies of the finished videos on eco-friendly USB sticks (with the option to swap out for DVDs or BluRay, and a chance to upgrade to personalised wooden USB sticks and matching gift box), and the videos will also be hosted online to make it easier to share with friends and family. Option two: £1800

This option includes the morning preparations, the ceremony, the reception, the speeches, cutting the cake and the first dance. You’ll get a highlights video (roughly 10-15 minutes and set to your music choices) plus an extended video bundle with full length versions of the speeches and the ceremony, as well as a longer look at the preparations, reception and evening reception. This price includes aerial footage of the venue, plus a second camera operator (which means we can get better coverage of the most important parts of your day). As with option one, we arrive at 11am-ish and stay until 9pm-ish, and you’ll get three copies of the finished video on eco-friendly USB sticks (with the option to swap out for DVDs or BluRay, and a chance to upgrade to personalised wooden USB sticks and matching gift box). We’ll host the highlights video online along with any of the extended films you'd like us to upload to make it easier to share your special day with friends and family. You also get a first-look sneak preview of the video before the full version premieres, and we can even schedule an online watch-along for your friends and family when the video premieres. As we said, these prices are a jumping-off point and it can all be tailored to you. It’s entirely possible to have a full day highlights film and cherry-pick just one or two extended films from the day. And we’re happy to arrive and leave at whatever times suit you. Maybe you are having fireworks in the evening that you’d like us to stay for. Maybe you’re not bothering with any speeches. Just let us know and we’ll put together something that’s fully customised, just for you. Another service we offer is pre-wedding interviews; these are great fun to watch back in years to come, and a perfect addition to a wedding video package! These cost £265 if you book them in advance of the wedding day, or £165 if you’re able to schedule them for the day itself. If you have a real soft spot for the wedding videos of the 70s, 80s, 90s or 00s our Super LoFi videos could be right up your street (we’re assuming your street still has a Blockbuster on it). These cost £650 and are full of VHS flavour, and if you want to know more, you’ll have to email us…!

Special Day Films are friendly, down-to-earth wedding videographers based in York. They specialise in a blend of cinematic and candid videography. They’ve been lucky to film weddings up and down the country – in actual castles and village halls and everything in between. Alex & Ryan got married at St Oswald's church in Filey - after the ceremony they left in a vintage VW Beetle that needed a push start from several groomsmen! 😅

It was a real privilege to be involved in one of these projects and to be entrusted with someone's personal story.

On the 80th anniversary of D Day we want to pay our respects to the veterans we have worked with over the last few years. On this day in 1944, Codename Operation Overlord commenced, with 156,000 Allied Troops landing by sea and air on 5 beaches in Normandy.

On Saturday, we premiered the short film In The Footsteps of Hank Haydock - verbatim stories of war from Dennis 'Hank' Haydock. Before this was made, it was a live play - socially distanced during covid in Duncombe Park, Helmsley

We had the honour of having veterans Doug Petty, Sid Metcalfe, and Ken Cooke (pictured here with actor George Stagnell) in the audience of this play, alongside Gloria, the wife of the late Ken Smith.

We are also pleased to have their stories told at Yorkshire Air Museum as part of a trail. Those important stories are currently also on our YouTube, and they deserve to be heard wherever you may find them.

With thanks to Everwitch Theatre Special Day Films Helmsley Arts Centre York Normandy Veterans and many others that have allowed these stories to still be told.

As well as our lovingly crafted highlights videos, our packages also include extended videos. This means you can re-watch the ceremony and speeches in full as well as having the chance to enjoy candid moments from throughout the day that you might otherwise miss.

He cannot remember how long he has been here but thinks that it has been around 7/8 years. He started on the relief team.

Here's a peek into the process! We've launched straight into 2024 with an edit on KPOW!, a short film written by . It's based on the experiences of .ntalk2021 and others as they've gone through cancer treatment.

Shot over one day, It's hoped the short film will help doctors and health care professionals be more considerate to those with cancer and help the public be more empathetic.

Our Story

The three of us have been making wedding videos together since 2005 and we recently realised that our favourite jobs are the ones where the couples have put their own stamp on things. So we decided that we really wanted to meet more and more couples with the desire to make their big day, THEIR big day. For this reason, every wedding we now film is tailored entirely to you and the things that you’re passionate about, whether that’s a love of all things rock & roll, offbeat love stories, or simply a determination to throw out the clichés and have a wedding day that’s as individual as you are.
