Glow worms! Last night I checked glow worms off my photography bucket list. You don't see them if you have any sort of light source to guide your way down the path but once you commit to letting your eyes adjust, they were everywhere. Very small specs of light along the banks of the path. Although we could see them they took a bit of work to photograph. Thankfully I was able to find an old telescope tripod and use a 2 minute exposure at 4000 ISO. Hopewell

Brought the camera but NOT the tripod so had to use some rocks to prop up the camera to take advantage of the VERY dark sky here at Hopewell Lodge, New Zealand.

Small church, small wedding, HUGE love for each other. Karla and I had the privilege of being the videographer for Morgan and Noah's wedding this past weekend and what a perfect wedding it was! Everything about it was perfect (right down to Syd and Barb's ham sauce!). Thank you for asking us to join you on your special day and all the best in 2025 and many more years to come!

What a unique and fun gift idea! (just don't tell the copyright police!) I was asked prior to Christmas to record a "Mix Tape" for a friend to be given as a special Christmas present and thanks to some help finding a blank tape, it all worked out really good! Now how many of you kids need me to explain what a "mix tape" is???

This year has been full of exciting projects, and one of my favourites has been the opportunity to capture high-volume sports images once again! I was thrilled to photograph this amazing group of talented young athletes, and this time was even more special — as our guy is part of the action too! ❤️

Looking for a last minute Christmas gift idea? Why not get some of those old tapes that have been laying around forever finally converted to something you can actually watch as a family. My digital conversion setup has very much evolved over the years with lots of trial and errors and improvements along the way. Pictured here is my setup with up to four conversions at one time of tapes (VHS, VHS-C, Hi8 (8mm), or MiniDV).

Another stack of "high volume" school / sports photography out the door this past week. Parents can easily view the gallery online, choose their products (various size prints, memory mates, magnets, bag tags, coffee mugs, etc), then checkout and pay online. Super easy and efficient for everyone!

Another unique project that I was happy to help with. The family wanted to print a photo of grandpa for a wedding to remember those that have past away however they didn't have a good photo of just grandpa. I was able to scan the original at a high resolution, crop, and clean up the image in photoshop to create the 8x10 image.

I really appreciate being able to head out capture some images, and still be in bed by midnight! Once again the heavens poured down and they did not disappoint last night!

Something that may be of interest, when I shoot the northern lights, generally (with the exception of the bridge photo where I wanted to capture the passing vehicle) I take about a 1-2 second exposure. When the Aurora are intense like they were last night, they are moving so quickly and are so bright that if I take longer exposures, you loose the detail of the patterns, the streams, the pillars of light, etc. and they start to blend together and become just a bright, colorful sky. I've seen lots of photos like that but that's easy; I want to capture the unique pattern of every second of the sky which also makes it hard to choose which photo is the best.

I want to see your photos! Post them in the comments or let me know which photo is your favorite. OR, let me know where you think I should go next time to capture photos. This is the second time I've shot at Ross Lake and Lea Park Bridge and need a new location.

Happy Fall Supper Season to one and all! The long awaited fall supper list is finally here thanks to the help of many of you! Just a heads up that there are a couple community groups that are planning on letting me know after they meet this week so please come back to this post for the most updated list. Please note that the Heinsburg supper is not on the list due to you having to buy a ticket in advance; the poster is attached. If I have missed any, please don't hesitate to reach out to me and I'll get it added.

Here are some added pieces of info to help you.
1. Come early. Generally these suppers start around 4:30-5:00pm and only go till 6:30-7:00pm or whenever they sell out.
2. Bring cash! Very few (if any) will accept debit / have a cash machine near by.
3. Be prepared to wait in line. Regardless of what time you arrive, you will likely have to stand in line either outside or inside. With that being said, if the weather is cool or wet, be prepared.
4. Visit and get to know who those around you in line and when you sit down. You never know who you might sit with (and sometimes seating is tight) so have a conversation and make a new friend.
5. MOST IMPORTANT! Be patient and KIND! Every single one of these suppers is put on by volunteers to support their community.
