While I was picking up supplies for this week’s catering, I met Kate, a cheesemonger from , and her husband Zack, a fishmonger. I could not resist picking up a few selections of cheese for the week. Thanks so much for the kitchen tour! It was wonderful meeting you two and visiting your shop with the best name.

On Saturday I had the pleasure of touring Mama Farm and Early Girl Farm in Brookhaven, New York.

Mama Farm specializes in raising heritage chicken breeds, which lay eggs in a variety of 🌈 colors, including blue, green, pink and chocolate brown, and their egg size is always different. The 🐥🐓chickens are a thing of beauty, and one reminded me of a Shaggy Coos 🐮cow. We also got to meet many 🐑 sheep and 🐐goats, including a cashmere goat with the softest coat I’ve ever touched. They have five breeds of sheep that are nearly extinct, including one who is one of only 11 left.

Mama Farm also has 🐝 beehives and 🍯honey, of course! We were generously gifted a bottle of honey that I'm excited to use for a catering order later this week. Stay tuned!

I also had the pleasure of meeting Patty Gentry, a former chef turned farmer who runs Early Girl Farm. Patty grows vegetables 🥕🥬🥦🥒on 2.5 acres of land using organic, regenerative, no-till methods.

We have cultivated relationships with our farmer friends because we believe it is important to know where your food comes from. Know your farmer, know your food! All of the food we serve is sourced within a two hour drive from a farm to our prep tables. Our menus are tailored to each client using the freshest, seasonal ingredients.
