Today was such a beautiful fun day celebrating Emily and Conner getting married! When Conner proposed to Emily he quoted their favorite tv show Arrested Development saying “Will you one day intend to marry me?” And I crammed the ceremony full of arrested development references per their request, including saying “her?” after Conner said “I do” to taking Emily as his wife. There were also a few Avatar the Last Airbender references and one Community reference, all some of my favorite shows as well! It was a blast getting to be a part of their special day and seeing all their nerdy decor at the reception! They even made their own temporary tattoos for guests! Everything was very cool. Cool cool cool.

I woke up early this morning and drove deep into rural NC passing endless Trump signs to boldy celebrate q***r love and joy marrying Daryne (she/her) and Jansen (they/them) in an intimate elopement with just their two witnesses and their pup Ozzy at Hanging Rock Park. The absolute joy, passion, and beauty of q***r love and devotion is indescribable and I am always so grateful to be a part of it. The park was also stunning and I spent a long time after the ceremony in a rocking chair with my feet up overlooking the hill and pond and unwinding during this busy wedding season.
I have been somewhat burnout on social media for the past year or so, so clients of mine I missed posting, please don’t take it personally, you’re all wonderful!

This was a super fun, super q***r photo shoot with some of my favorite vendors and a wonderful real life couple who was delightful to meet and hear a bit about their love story!

Happy Marriage Monday! I married Jim (he/him) and Rob (he/him) this morning at the beautiful Sandy Creek Park in a simple and sweet ceremony with just a few of their closest loved ones. They were very sweet and so clearly in love. I wish them all the best!

I married Kate and Doug this chilly, bright, merry morning, in a short simple ceremony full of love, with just a couple family members and their dog as witnesses. They’ve been together for 18 years and I’m sure they have many more happy years ahead of them!

I celebrated Denise (she/her) and Nakita (she/her)’s marriage today, their venue was lovely, their personal vows super sweet and I loved both their outfits! They also did a sand ceremony with their kids, and their son was the cutest flower child, he threw the petals with gusto!

I married Amoni (she/her) and Kelsey (she/her) today in a spooky fall wedding in Umstead Park. They did a Lego unity ceremony which was fun and they both looked stunning in their outfits. They gave me a beautiful corsage as well! It was a joy celebrating with them!

I married Hannah (she/her) and Latissa (she/her) in the lovely JC Raulston Arboretum. They both looked stunning and their personal vows to each other were super sweet. I wish them all the best in their life together!

I’ve had so many extra fun weddings lately! On Friday the 13th I married Jessi and Tim at the Cookery, another favorite venue of mine! They had such great energy. Tim danced down the aisle to “I’m sexy and I know it” I took a selfie of everyone (or tried to) once Jessi joined us. The moms of the bride and groom had thrones to sit in (which Tim made) and the couple sat in matching thrones at dinner. Tim also made an awesome donut wall decorated with Dunkin Donuts. Jessi and Tim shared some of the most beautiful personalized vows I’ve ever heard, affirming not only their love and commitment to one another, but the love and commitment they had for each other’s children, family members, and friends, many of whom were mentioned specifically by name. Their vows encapsulated much of what I personally love about weddings and why I do what I do, celebrating not only the romantic love but the love of blood and chosen family and friends. All their decorations were spooky and awesome and Jessi’s bouquet contained some of her favorite crystals. As always, it was an honor to be included in such a special day.

I married Jenny (she/her) and Melissa (she/her) at one of my favorite venues, Windy Hill Farm (). We avoided the rain but had a nice cool breeze as Jenny and Melissa shared their vows under the trees surrounded by just a few close loved ones. I wish them all the best in their life together!

I married Lauren and Jon at the Eno River today, Friday the 13th. They requested folks wear spooky/halloween outfits. I had a lot of fun putting together my dark/punk elf look. Jon and Lauren had a sweet simple ceremony with a few close loved ones and pizza and cake after! It was such a joy to celebrate them!

I married Jonathan and Yuli in a simple but meaningful ceremony in the lovely Umstead Park in Raleigh. I always love the several minute drive through the trees to get to the heart of the park. Yuli and Jonathan had just a few of their closest loved ones in attendance but it was clear everyone was so happy to celebrate for and with them! I wish them all the best in their life together!

My First Nerd Love

I don’t remember a time in my life without Harry Potter. I’ve been reading and re-reading the books as long as I can remember. I was and still am engrossed in the magic of not only spells and illusions, but the greater magic of friendship and love. This has led me to want to become a minister so I can create magical moments of everyday love and friendship being celebrated between two people. I want to do that in whatever way is meaningful to the couple, whether religious, spiritual, secular, geeky, nerdy, q***r, or some combination of those things. I love love, meeting new people and hearing their stories and creative writing. I look forward to many more magical moments in the future.
