Here’s one way to think about it. A long time ago, animals like birds and reptiles were laying eggs. Then, over many years, changes happened, and some animals slowly became what we now call chickens. So, before the first chicken was ever born, there was an egg!

That means the egg came first. The animal inside the egg may not have been exactly a chicken, but after it hatched, it became the first chicken. Sounds logical?

It's surprising, but many supermarkets throw away a lot of food just because it doesn't look perfect. In fact, about 25% of apples, 20% of onions, and 13% of potatoes grown in the west are wasted due to their appearance.

Sometimes, fruits and vegetables grow in funny shapes or sizes. Maybe a carrot is bent, or an apple has a small spot. Even though these foods are still fresh and tasty, supermarkets don’t always put them on the shelves. They think people won’t buy them because they don’t look nice.

Globally, around 14% of food produced is lost after harvesting but before it reaches shops and supermarkets.This means a lot of nutritious food is wasted, which is bad for the environment and our communities. And imagine how many poor could be fed with these instead of being disposed of!

The good news is that some stores abroad are starting to sell "ugly" produce at lower prices, helping to reduce waste and offer affordable options to shoppers. In Bangladesh as well, we can welcome such initiatives. By choosing these imperfect fruits and veggies, we can help cut down on food waste and enjoy delicious, healthy meals.

Making tomato soup at home is easy and fun! Here’s how you can do it with just a few simple steps.

First, you’ll need these ingredients:

1) 4 ripe tomatoes
2) 1 onion
3) 2 garlic cloves
4) 2 cups of water or vegetable broth
5) A little salt and pepper
6) Some butter or oil for cooking

Now, let’s make the soup!

1) 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬: Start by cutting the tomatoes, onion, and garlic into small pieces.

2) 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬: In a big pot, heat some butter or oil. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and cook until they’re soft. Then, add the tomatoes and cook them until they start to break down.

3) 𝐀𝐝𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐡: Pour in the water or vegetable broth and stir everything together. Let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, so the flavors mix well.

4) 𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐩: After the soup has cooked, use a blender to make it smooth. Be careful—it might be hot! You can blend it until it’s as smooth or chunky as you like.

5) 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐩: Add some salt and pepper to taste. If you want, you can also add a little cream to make it creamier.

Have you ever wondered how coffee is made? It all starts with a special plant called a coffee plant. Here’s how it works:

𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬: Coffee comes from beans that grow on the coffee plant. These beans are actually the seeds inside little red or green fruits called coffee cherries.

𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬: When the coffee cherries are ripe, farmers pick them by hand or with machines. Inside each cherry are two coffee beans.

𝐃𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬: After picking, the coffee beans are taken out of the cherries and dried in the sun. This helps them get ready for roasting.

𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬: Roasting is what gives coffee its rich, yummy flavor. The beans are heated until they turn brown and smell delicious.

𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬: After roasting, the beans are ground up into tiny pieces so they can be brewed into coffee.

𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞: Finally, hot water is poured over the ground beans to make the coffee we drink!
