We hope you’re finding yourselves caught up in unexpected moments of beauty during this holiday season. Here at Gatherings we’re incredibly grateful for all this past year has held…so many beautiful weddings & celebrations, in SO many different venues & in 4 different states! What a joy & a privilege to be trusted by you to celebrate the many milestones of our lives together. May true peace & joy fill all our hearts.

We’ve been quiet here for a few weeks. My husband’s father passed away quite suddenly three weeks ago today. As a family we’ve been living thru the whirlwind of travel & grieving & remembering & celebrating that comes along with the loss of such a dear one. He was a brilliant architect, a bon vivant, a lover of beauty in its many forms, and as such was instrumental in the growth & success we’ve experienced at Gatherings in these most recent years. His touch & vision are evident throughout our studio space.
*A huge Thank You to our clients who’ve uniformly been deeply kind and incredibly patient while we’ve taken a pause. Your grace has truly made this time easier to bear.
*And heaps & heaps of thanks & many hugs to the team at Gatherings who have each stepped in & stepped up with their gentle hearts & great talents to keep the work moving forward over these last few weeks. We couldn’t have gotten thru these last two busy weekends of homecoming without them! (A special hat tip to .s.studio, who created the lovely cuff corsage featured in this post.)

Playful, bright, adventurous,& easy-going…we took all the wonderful things we love about Grace & put them into her bouquet! Peachy-yellow garden roses, bright red anemones, golden butterfly ranunculus, & sky-blue delphinium helped us celebrate our dear friend on this most joyful day.

We had the joy of celebrating yet another family wedding today…our beautiful niece Sadie was married in a field of wildflowers high in the mountains of southern Colorado.

Elegant & enchanting, this grand allee of oak trees at St James Farm is easily my favorite local outdoor wedding spot. A simple arch, a touch of blooming vines, and suddenly you’re in the most glorious of cathedrals.

Peep those little burgundy & green hellebores…are they not perfection? Literally spotted them in my garden & snipped a few stems as I headed out the door to begin designing for this shoot. And WOW if they didn’t make for the perfect spot of depth in this airy, upscale twist on boho. Even when I’m heading to my wholesaler, I always leave some wiggle room in my budget for those little floral epiphanies-without fail they’re the magic that transports designs to a whole other level!

Peonies are simply show stoppers. With their saturated color, their pleasing size, & their endless ruffles, they’re hands down my favorite focal point flower for bridal bouquets. And fabulous news for everyone dreaming of peonies for their wedding day: more & more growers around the world are producing this beauty, steadily extending its “summer only” availability into the spring & winter months. I’m delighted every time I discover them at the market at an unexpected time. Here’s to a long & lovely season of treating our clients to these beautiful blooms!

So excited to share this little iPhone video of our first ever #foamfree floating greenery installation. Creating a piece like this has been a goal of mine for a long time, & I’ve just been waiting for the right combination of event, client, & space to give it a try. I’ve had Company 251 in mind ever since I attended their grand opening in the fall of 2017. I just knew their cool industrial-mod vibe would be a perfect fit for our edgy-but-elegant garden style. Imagine my thrill when Lauren & Dave reached out & asked us to design their day in this destination venue, & then gave us full permission to run with our ideas for the space! Can’t wait for the pro pics from @windy_city_production to share more!
