I am so excited to announce that we are off on an adventure to beautiful Vancouver Island! Beginning in July, elkae creative will officially be based in Nanaimo— whaaaat! ☀️

The Edmonton area has been my home for the past 32 years and the wedding industry here has been SO good to elkae since day 1. I feel so unbelievably blessed by all the amazing people I’ve met and connections I’ve made here. We leave with heavy, hopeful, and grateful hearts. 🌼

I’ll release future booking details as they unfold and we get settled in our new space, but for the remainder of this season, I plan to be immersing myself in our new community and working on exciting new things for the 2023 wedding season!

We’ve been living in limbo, staying with family while we wait to take possession of our new house. I’ve been working away on this year’s weddings and sending off florals to their new homes 🌼

This season of life has been WILD in our house! We knew we would likely be moving in July, but didn’t know where—and then in Feb, found out that we have to be out of our place in April 🥵.

This is normally my most favourite time, creatively, as styled shoots become more frequent and I’m able to do some of my most fun creating 🌼
Unfortunately, that’s put on hold for now, as we pack up our little house and prepare to bunk with family for the next few months.

I have a bigger move-announcement to make in the coming months, once I’ve had a chance to formulate my words and get all of this packing under my belt—wish me luck! 😅

[this was intended to be a New Year’s intro post but here we are….]
I’ve had some fresh faces follow along lately so I thought it was time for a new introduction.

I’m Lauren 👋🏽 a SAHM and part-time florist working exclusively with faux & dried florals. I absolutely love the flexibility and freedom that faux florals provide for events that require SO many other preparations and plans.

This month marks 4 years for elkae and we have some BIG changes in store for 2022 (more on that to come).

This was one of my OG bouquets.
Truthfully, I had no idea what I was doing at the time, which really, could be said for my first *couple* years of flowering. Looking back, there’s so much that I wish I could tweak & change, but it’s all a process, right?
Anyway, all that to say that I’m so thankful for everyone that cheered me on and encouraged me in those first years (& those that continue to— gosh 🥺 you don’t even know what an impact it has).
If you’re just starting out with something and you’re feeling discouraged with your process, or your product or your engagement or…everything all at once— pleaseee don’t give up. One day, you’ll look back and see such tremendous growth and I hope you’ll feel so, so proud.

I’ve been a little quiet over here! It’s been so busy since we’ve been home— unpacking and settling back in from a month away, setting up & preparing for Christmas..and opening my books for 2022 has me 😴

I am blown away by the response from you guys! Seriously. I’ve been reading through my emails with the biggest smile on my face. Your kindness and eagerness to work with me for your weddings has me feeling SO humbled and so very grateful.

I have now contacted everyone who’s inquired, so if you haven’t heard back— please let me know! And with that, I am officially closing my books for the 2022 season✨

This head table setup was so much fun to do! Using my arch pieces as the base, I layered in tons of faux fern, malt grass and blush palm fans to give it some pop ✨
Really, it’d be hard to do anything that wouldn’t look good in this gorgeous reception space at .ridge though 💫

When Kass told me she was planning a celestial themed shoot, I knew that the florals were going to have to hit differently.

I knew that the bride would be wearing a gold star-glittered gown, and the rest was left with me to run with!✨

I was so excited when Sabrina reached out to ask if I would design a crown for the Kindred Project 2.0.

I was told that the project would be outdoors at the height of fall with neutral, natural decor so we decided on a dried piece for the mamas to wear. How beautiful are and her sweet babe? Can’t wait to share more from this day with you guys! 💫

I was so excited when Amy reached out to me earlier this year. Her cousin was one of my very first brides, years ago, and Amy had loved her flowers— whaaat!
