Grand opening of The Mercantile Exchange at Ryves Holt House today from 10-5 is coinciding with the
Hearty in the Cause: Lewes 1776
Visitors will be transported back in time to the turbulent months leading up to American independence.
This event brings to life the local experience of the colonial seaport of Lewistown a year after “the shot heard ‘round the world,” a pivotal moment in history when many eyes were drawn to Washington’s army in New England, and amid rumors of a new Declaration under debate in Philadelphia.
The Ryves Holt House is a visit to the reimagined mercantile that will give a glimpse into the past, and into a shop that Jacob Jones himself would have frequented.
They will be offering historic teas and chocolates that our four father drank in the old times, as they say, while also supporting our small roastery and showcasing our coffees all year long!
We couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with The Historic Lewes Society, so come out today and live likes it’s 1776.
