Several of our koi are laying eggs this week by the thousands. The other koi chase the laying koi around and eat most of the eggs as they come out. Due to all of the splashing, some end up above the water line on the rocks and algae. It’s a wonder any of them end up as baby koi.

Snowball viburnum are still going strong. These are often confused with limelight hydrangeas, which look almost identical. Snowball viburnum bloom in early spring and limelight hydrangeas bloom in mid summer.

Hummingbirds migrating already. A week ago, they went from a gallon of nectar every 3 days to a pint or so. Fall is on the way.

Louie loved flowering vines and hyacinth bean was one of her favorites. This is our cow panel tunnel covered in hyacinth beans. They will be loaded with purple blooms in a few weeks.
