The company starte
d as a catering service, with Brian and his father making stage backdrops on the side. It was the year 2000 and only a handful knew about stage backdrops so they had a very small market. Brian reminisced, “Most of our clients were government offices and schools because my parents were teachers. Things started to change when a client ordered huge backdrops and our business started picking up. In 2010, we had a client who requested a backdrop of the Eiffel Tower. High end clients came to our doorstep, asking us to create backdrops for their debuts, weddings, and corporate events. Restaurants also hired us to make their backdrops.”
Stage backdrops are now deemed vital to transform any ordinary, even dreary venues, into exquisite settings to regale attendees with memorable visual experiences and to help achieve a cohesive theme for any special event.
“These days, people want to celebrate weddings in extraordinary ways. Weddings have themes. Themes should reflect the couple’s personalities and interests. Couples hire wedding decorating services like us to bring out the best of what they envision their wedding to be. One of our client’s wedding theme, for example, was French country home, so we put a real fireplace on the stage as part of the backdrop. Brian, his father Abelardo Ylagan, Jr., and their artist Michael Belaro all believe that in any social event, including the wedding reception, the stage is as important, if not more, as the wedding cake.
“The stage is like the wedding cake. Everyone sees it. Everyone looks at it. Where are the bride and groom usually seated? They are on the stage right? So since the stage is the guests’ focal point, it’s natural that a wedding should have a breathtaking stage backdrop. A charming, thematic stage backdrop can profoundly influence the entire mood and ambiance of the wedding. Even if the food is forgettable, few people can forget a gorgeous stage because they were focused on it all throughout the wedding reception program,” Brian said.
