Our ‘Stairway to heaven’ installation made during the last day of the wedding florist course, by my students .boekee, .rozanne, .bloem.hoeve and .a.flow.
The palette was based on the most gorgeous bridal dress we got to borrow from the sweetest bride, and we had so much fun playing around with it at the end of the day for this photoshoot! Thank you to our beautiful model .boekee who did such a good job!! 🥰 The perfect cherry on top of 3 beautiful days together!! So so proud of this group of talented florists! ❤️👏🏻

The garden is in full bloom and I’m trying to savour it as much as possible. I sometimes have a hard time seeing through all the work that has to be done and to just ‘be’. There, in the moment. On the grass, in a chair,… I know I will miss it terribly when all the flowers are gone again in winter, so these photos are a beautiful reminder to live in the moment and enjoy the beauty. Thank you for capturing that so beautifully last September!

PS: I also planned a ‘weeding day’ with my mom and sister tomorrow to finally get some work done, so that will help too, haha! 😉

For my demo arrangement from last week’s course I was inspired by the cherries on our tree, the white currants growing in the garden and some beautiful petunias my friend gifted me. I wouldn’t normally think to combine red and yellow but nature always knows best! I had lots of fun taking my time to style this table the day after the workshop (procrastinating tidying up my studio 😉), and snacking from it while doing so 😋.

An ode to bearded iris and sweet peas!
PS: thank you all so much for following along here!! My account reached the +10k followers mark somewhere in the past week and I find it absolutely crazy that there’s so many of you following along my passion for flowers!! 🥰🥰🥰 I don’t know what happened to the IG algorithm but some of my recent posts have gotten so much wonderful response and it’s been really nice to reach likeminded flower lovers again with my creations. It puts the joy back in this platform a little bit. So thank you for being here, really! ❤️

Romeo oh Romeo…
Tuesday was the final day of the first wedding florist course of the season. What a beautiful 3 weeks it have been creating together with 3 talented florists!
For the apotheosis of our creative journey together we always create a big group installation. Our ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘Narnia’ installations of last year turned out so beautifully, so we thought long and hard about which story we could tell next. After some brainstorming we landed on the epic love story of Romeo and Juliet as our inspiration. Of course we needed a balcony for that so my dearest husband made my studio-balcony-dreams come true and built us one! 💪🏻🙏🏻
All credits for the rest of it go to my talented students .blanche.je and . They created the most amazing fairytale install and I couldn’t be more proud! These photos don’t do it justice because it was so much more beautiful in real life! To end the day we had our own little Romeo & Juliet reenactment, haha! What do you think?

I’ve been anticipating Spring flowers and being able to cut from the garden again all winter. So now that there’s an abundance of tulips, ranunculus and wild lilacs growing, my hands and heart were itching to go all out!
I had so much fun creating this for myself in my studio without pressure. To just experiment. I absolutely encourage you to stroll through your garden/nearest park/nature and see which treasures you can find! And just create, play, try! Make something beautiful! Flowers make it so easy.

One of my favorite things about teaching and thus hosting florists in my studio is prepping the flower display for them to work with. Searching the garden for the perfect ingredient to blend two colors together, finding small hidden treasures in the process and creating a harmonious set-up for them to dive in to; so much fun!! I could do this every day! (Can this just be a job?? 🤔🤭)
When the display’s finished I usually choose my own ingredients for my demonstration arrangement and ahhhh, choosing is one of my big defaults (ask my husband). I find it easiest to pick one flower that I’m drawn to most or that catches my eye, analyse it’s different hues and go from there. Came across these photos of a mock-up for a wedding from last year with nothing but goodness from the garden. Even the grapes were freshly picked from the vines growing against the studio wall! And look at those roses!! 😍
So looking forward to be able to just ‘pick-and-create’ again soon! Things are slowly starting to bloom! 🤗

Hi there! Today when meeting with a bride in my studio, she told me she wasn’t sure who to expect because there weren’t a lot of photos of me on here. 🙈 So here I am, one of the few portraits of me without (hiding behind) flowers. I feel completely naked, haha! 😊
For those who don’t know yet; my name is Annelies, I’ll turn 35 in September and I fell head over heels in love with flowers about 9 years ago. I’m a wedding and event florist and also teach floristry to other professional florists. I live in Westerlo, Belgium with my husband, 2 cats Lou & Lola and 2 chicken Poncho & Penny. 😄 Next to flowers (and my husband ofcourse) animals are definitely my second big love and soft spot. 🥰
I grow a big part of the flowers I work with myself and I love working in the garden and in my greenhouse, trying out new varieties and colorschemes to bring something unique to each wedding & event!
This year (next to teaching some amazing colleagues) I’ll be focusing on events solely through planners & stylists (still some availability for 2024!). However, as a bride you are still more than welcome for your personalized bridal bouquet. I love creating something unique and made to measure for your special day!

I’m out of office and traveling through California for a few weeks, hoping to skip the last part of Belgian winter and to dive (almost) straight into spring when we get back! 🤗🤗🤗 It’s my favorite flower season and I can’t wait for all the spring blooms that are awaiting in just two months!
Meanwhile tips on nice flower shops or markets in California/SF Bay Area to get my floral fix are very welcome! 🥰

I’m overwhelmed and overjoyed by the response on the workshop launch from last week! 🥰🙏🏻 Thank you all so much!
It took some time to get back to everyone (and I still have to respond to some 1:1 requests, will get back to those soon!) but I’m already really excited to meet everyone!
I’m also a bit sad to disappoint others. There was enough interest though in the wedding florist course to possibly organize a third or fourth later this summer, so there might be another opportunity! Do let me know if you would like to get an update on extra dates!
For now I’m keeping my schedule open for wedding and event requests since I love them and it’s so important to me to stay creative in that way too! 🥰

In 2024 geef ik terug les, met hart en ziel! In mijn atelier en tuin vind ik vlot mijn woorden en deel ik met liefde al wat ik weet, ken, ben. Hier online vind ik dat soms moeilijker en vertrouw ik het liefst op de visuele kracht van beelden en bloemen. Ik laat dus dit keer graag -met veel trots en ook wel véél blos op de wangen- een van mijn cursisten aan het woord over de opleiding tot huwelijksflorist. 🥰
Ik ben hen eeuwig dankbaar voor hun lieve woorden, en voor hun vertrouwen om vorig jaar als eerste de sprong te wagen! 🙏🏻
En wie weet kunnen ze jou nu overtuigen en mag ik je in de lente of zomer in de tuin verwelkomen!
Ik juich luid bij elke inschrijving! 🤗

I know I’m a bit late to be looking back at 2023 but I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on the beautiful flower people I’ve come to know last year. Ever since flowers came in to my life, so many warm and kind people from near and far have come with that and I’m so thankful. For inspiring teachers and dear colleagues becoming friends, for the beautiful women from all over the world I got to meet and for the amazing and talented students I got to teach myself.

These beautiful photos were taken by another talented friend I got to make last year , at the Harmonie retreat in September. I made this bouquet real quick in between helping out in the kitchen and curling my hair to go and model everyone else’s bouquets 🙈 but it was so fun to get my hands on some of Emily’s amazing homegrown flowers! So grateful for this wonderful experience and for the warmhearted international community you create ! 🥰 And for the teamwork, ‘jumpy’ food, laughs and tears .sister! 😉❤️

Yesterday we planted all the tulips and bulbs for a burst of color next spring. While I don’t really love this often cold and wet garden job, I do love that moment of dreaming about how it will all look in a few months. Pairing the colors and imagining them in bloom…
Meanwhile the ranunculus are growing in the greenhouse, all set to team up for some dramatic arrangements come April, just like this one!

I confess I went a little overboard and ordered 20+ bare root rose bushes a few months ago. 🙊 They arrived last week and my poor husband had to find space for them in the garden while I was out with back pain. But they’re all planted and I’m so excited to see them bloom next year! 🤗🤗🤗 Buying plants without having the space to put them, who can relate?

I’m so happy to finally present my new branding! It’s been a long time coming, since I never actually had a proper branding to begin with. I started my business almost 8 years ago under the name ‘Stek’ (a Dutch word that’s hard to translate) but I’ve quickly noticed that this name didn’t really stick with people, and they mostly knew me by my personal name. So when I asked .vormgeving to work on my rebranding, it was an obvious name choice. She did an amazing job translating my love for flowers and what I do into a beautiful logo, a unique color palette, delicate graphics and an overall brand that feels fitting for what my floral design studio has grown into over these past years. What do you think? hope you like it as much as I do!

What’s changing? Not that much since my Instagram handle has always been the same, but an important one to note is that my e-mailadress has changed. My old one will be redirected for a few more months though. For now my website is ‘just’ a -very beautiful 😉- landing page (working on that) but I’m finishing the last details on a brochure with more information about my wedding & event work. Making moodboards and brochures has already proven to be so much more fun, so I’m really excited to start working towards a new flower season!

Sleeping beauty✨
Yesterday was the third and last day of my wedding florist course: installation day! My studio was our canvas so we started building the concept of our installation from what was available and around us. We decided to use my daybed as our main focal point and from there on the fairytale of Sleeping Beauty quickly came to mind.
And a real life fairytale it was! I’m so proud of what this team created! Each of them gave their own input and insights and they worked together so beautifully!
We ended the day with admiring our work and taking photos (Disney music included 🙈). I asked them to bring their most whimsical dress for a little DIY photoshoot and we ended up having two sleeping beauties. I like them equally so I couldn’t choose. Which one do you prefer?

This creative project by Elien Jansen was so much fun to work on together with the best team!
We created 4 looks and I think this ethereal, delicate one was my favorite. We started with just the headpiece and then added extra flowers across the shoulder to really frame .laurac ‘s beautiful face. Perfectly fitting make-up by !
