When our friends in Sémplice Baroque approached us about presenting their house concert in our modern urban townhome we jumped at the chance. The members wanted to raise funds to help them attend a baroque institute in Ohio, and so, on Mother’s Day, 2016, Five Points Live! was born. It’s big fun to host the many music fans who seek this type of special musical experience, and to meet and hear the musicians who seek the sort of venue we provide.
During the next seven months, the inmate living room (and rooftop) shows continued, with concerts by Carla Sciaky, Frontier Ruckus, Hal Aqua and the Lost Tribe, Jill Sobule, Cameron Dye, Todd Prusin & Alex Commins, Beth Wood, and Tsibele. Each unique, every show a delight for every audience.
The news was out; Five Points Live! is the place to play, and as 2017 began, so did calls from around the country requesting a date to perform in our intimate living room listening room. The parade of acts included Shear Shazar (Jules Shear & Pal Shazar), The Flyin' A's, Scott Mulvahill & Alanna Boudreau, the return of Jill Sobule, and Mollie O'Brien & Rich Moore. And as the year ends, we are anticipating more great shows to come in 2018, with Alec Ounsworth of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, already booked for February 8, and the Rocking Rasta Rebbe, Rabbi Jack Gabriel, slated for February 11.
