Beyond enchanting audiences in India and Canada with his classical music, he is a seasoned theatre maker and Bollywood actor. By day, Saattvic is an economist running a consulting practice, specializing in competition and antitrust laws, while concurrently pursuing a PhD at UBC's Sauder Business School, showcasing the harmonious collision of art and economics in his life. She's performed at respected places like Livermore temple, California, Puttige Matt in San Jose, and New Jersey. Chetana values philanthropy and recently held a concert to help underprivileged schools in San Jose. • Launch Concert • The festival culminates with a concert featuring performances by the institute’s Hindustani vocal students, participants from our dhrupad workshops, and concludes with a Khayal performance by the institute’s founder and instructor Akhil Jobanputra along with Sunny Matharu (Tabla), Satpreet Singh (Dilruba), and Kishan Patel (Harmonium). Born and raised in BC, Akhil Jobanputra is a student, performer, teacher, and curator of Indian classical music. Since 2017, Akhil has been learning the nuances of the Jaipur gharana from Dr. Pandit Arun Dravid as well as khayal and dhrupad-dhamar from Pandit Arijit Mahalanabis. On occasion, he also receives guidance from Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar in Mewati repertoire. Akhil's music encapsulates elements of self-introspection, personal narratives, metaphysical beliefs, and artistic expression. He has performed across Canada, the US, India, and the U.K. with recent performances for 'Chaar Prahar Festival 2020', and for 'Parāśakti: The Flame Within' - a unique production conceptualized and co-directed by Akhil. As an educator, he teaches students of diverse backgrounds, enriching Vancouver’s South Asian traditional arts and culture ecosystem. At the age of twelve, Akhil founded the Indian Classical Music Society of Vancouver (ICMSV) with the goal of bringing communities together and promoting various local events. Since then, he has curated a series of initiatives and events geared at increasing awareness, accessibility, and education around Indian classical music. His new initiative, Kalāvāṇī Institute, is aimed at cultivating a learning environment designed for those out of India to engage with traditional performing arts in a meaningful way.
