Did you know that originally bridal bouquets were made up of herbs and spices and they began life as flower garlands to be worn around the neck or crowns on the head. Traditionally the Celtic bouquets included ivy, thistles and heather. They were believed to ward off evil spirits.

Nowadays couples have an abundance of floral colours and combinations to choose from. Finding it a bit overwhelming?

Why do we shout out our local businesses if they’re not wedding related?

Firstly we’re super proud of them and the awesome things they do, but also because it gives couples who may not know the area a feel for our little village.

Choosing a village venue to celebrate your wedding day is as much about the ‘feel’ for the place as the venue itself. We are very lucky here in Killearn to have an amazing venue, a picturesque village, the best community and some fantastic local businesses 🫶

Killearn has lots of lovely places to eat and shop. Just across the road from us is the fantastic Town & Country Designs, Killearn Here you’ll find a gorgeous deli, fantastic gifts, a lovely coffee shop and friendly staff.

Town and Country has been an integral of our community for a very long time. If you’ve been here for a while, you may remember the legend that was granny Drummond. Granny Drummond could bake up a storm and was making the scones and pancakes for the coffee shop well in to her nineties. What a woman.

Our community are what make Killearn such a special place to live 🫶

I love this time of year. Knowing that the nights will grow lighter and soon the grounds surrounding the hall will be filled with crocuses and daffodils. In the meantime here’s the first sign that winter is nearly behind us and soon the sun will shine with warmth.

Getting married on a hillside in the Scottish mountains. Ah the romantic dream. It’s got Outlander vibes , all romantic and Scottish and a wee bit different, but will it be the dream wedding you always dreamt of? I’m not so sure.

My first thoughts are sheep, deer and cattle roam the hillsides depositing as they go. You’re literally going to have to sling the bride over your shoulder to ensure the dress survives.

Secondly many of the scenic spots in Scotland are teeming with visitors. So your romantic dream wedding may become a spectator sport.

Next up midgies. They love woodland and water so that’s basically any Lochside location ruled out unless you’re prepared to slather yourself in Smidge (which after hours of bridal prep I would doubt). It makes your hair greasy and feel weird. The only way you’ll manage to keep them at bay is if you get married in a wind tunnel and that’s just going to mess up everyone’s hair.

And finally where do you go to the loo? The whole idea is fraught with potential hazards.

Two of our couples who had booked our beautiful venue have had to postpone their weddings this summer. We were so sorry that they are now unable to get married this year. Sometimes life just gets in the way. This means that we now have availability for July and August 2025. Our venue is just 30 mins from Glasgow and Stirling, it has fantastic spaces and incredible views across the Endrick valley. We can accommodate up to 120 seated guests and 160 evening guests. We may be biased but our hall and village are amazing! If you're interested in arranging a viewing or if you have any questions just drop us a message.

We have the most amazing local suppliers right here on our doorstep. Supporting our local businesses is important to us for a number of reasons. We know that they’ll give you fantastic products and top notch customer service. How do we know? Because we’ve used them time and time again. These guys are championed by our local community who use them time and time again. We’re a discerning bunch here in Killearn. If the community says they’re incredible then you can rest assured that they are incredible.

For example meet Laura from Turnip The Beet Laura is an example of the talent we have right here on our doorstep. Laura owns and runs a thriving deli and cafe at the bottom of Killearn. If you’re local you’ll know that you can pick up the most delicious home cooked curry and naans straight from the griddle. A visit to the deli will inspire your tastebuds!

An eco conscious approach, they only use compostable packaging, they’re have a zero waste shop and they’re one of the only places in Scotland to host sustainable wine taps - you just bring your own bottle and fill up! They also do a range of catering platters for events.

These guys are inspirational. So you don’t need to use the big corporates. You can use the amazing businesses that surround our beautiful village. Not only will you be supporting them but you’ll also be reducing the carbon footprint of your event. It’s a win, win.

If you’re planning a smaller more intimate gathering for your wedding we have the perfect solution. Our garden room is the perfect space for smaller celebrations. It’s an incredible space which is flooded with light. It also has access to our grassy outdoor ceremony space and views across the fields towards the Endrick valley.

We are incredibly lucky to have a very talented team of florists right here in Killearn. Heather and April from Endrick Blooms are local lasses and we are super proud of them.

The Bloomers (as they’re affectionately known) create bespoke wedding flowers and decor for couples across Scotland. They’re renowned for not just creating innovative and beautiful designs but also for their attention to detail and the care they take to ensure couples get exactly what they are dreaming of. From the first meeting to the big day, they’re there making sure everything looks incredible. We’re very lucky to have them working here in Killearn. We are even luckier that they love creating amazing displays for weddings at Killearn Village Hall.
