Excited to invite everyone to attend:
The Arizona Historical Society (AHS) will host their third Annual Juneteenth Celebration at the Arizona Heritage Center, an event that saw six hundred visitors last year. This popular event is held in partnership with Arizona State University Library’s Black Collections and the Black Family Genealogy and History Society. AHS presents this day of celebration and education to highlight, recognize, and share the history of Arizona’s African American communities.
At this free event, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy live performances and a panel discussion, explore the museum's exhibits, visit tables and vendors from local community groups, engage in arts and crafts, and connect with other community members. The special one hour panel discussion on the theme of “Our Arizona Story” is scheduled to begin around 10:15 a.m. Panelists include George “Sweet Erv” Campbell, who will reminisce about his family’s Century Sky Room Jazz and Supper Club; Joy Johnson, former Vice-Chair of 48 Women and long-time Arizona business owner; Quinton Jenkins, long- time Arizona resident, international model/coach, activist, and entrepreneur; and Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Lauren Guyton.
