Scrolling to self soothe has been replaced by scrolling to be hit upside the head with the chaos of the times.

After years of feeling unmoored, it seems like the volume just got turned up that much more on what continues to scare the hell out of us.

We’re left caught between grabbing the meditation cushion and applying for a digital nomad visa.

First things first. Go outside. Not to feel better. But to feel. Sit with every moment of panic, grief, rage, and let these things move seamlessly into awe as you watch the clouds roll by, and then back again.

When we allow each feeling to have a place, when we let our instincts lead us - even when it’s uncomfortable, when we call nature in as a witness, we can be still with all of it and we can know what’s next.

Not tomorrow, or in four years. But right now. In this moment. And through each next step.

Click the link below if you're ready to be with the feelings in a space that feels safe. I'll send you five gentle audio meditations to help you clear the confusion and know your next right step.

You may not know you’re experiencing burnout.

You just know that you’re tired.

Rising at 4 am, hitting the gym, arriving at the office by 6, working a ten hour day then fighting traffic all the way home….

This isn’t your idea of a life. It never was.

But it feels impossible to ask for anything else.

Your body’s asking for a break. Let’s start with a simple nature walk.

Click the link below for five gentle walking meditations that will have you relaxing your shoulders, taking a deep breath, trusting your wisdom again and finding your next step forward.

I have been where you are now

As a former founder who burned down a successful business trying to run from grief, I know what it's like to hit a wall (and feel powerless to move forward).

Now? I write by the fire in my coastal forest home, and I spend most of my time in the woods, doing work I deeply love, and helping others find their way back to themselves. But first, I had to learn that allowing your body the time it needs to process loss is a necessary first step to visioning a brighter future and building a career that doesn't burn you out.

Are you tired of being told to “crush your goals” while the world is on fire?

As heart-led humans, we want something different. We want work that creates meaning without sacrificing our wellbeing. Time and space to process our individual and collective grief. And the freedom to step into a life that builds true abundance without burning us down.

Otherwise, what are we doing this for?

Sit with me by the fire (via Zoom) in a tiny patch of forest on the Willapa River, and let's dream into a different way to work.

(Promise not to make you do trust falls.)

Somewhere in the midst of judging my partner harshly for falling into the oblivion of his addiction, I recognized the shadow inside my own spirit. The one that had me dancing until my feet bled, and then dancing some more.

So I let that boulder I’d been pushing roll down the hill.

And I walked away.

I walked away from more high ticket floral contracts. Away from more news appearances and influencer partnerships. Away from more publications and collaborations.

Away from a version of self that was so desperate to be ‘seen’ because I could not in fact see myself.

I stepped away from every addictive relationship. I stepped away from the cacophony on social media. I quietly closed every door and I went inward.

What I found there was a community of nurturing voices. This community had always been here, but it had been shut out by so much chaos outside of me. The demands of my ideas of responsibility, of the ways I desperately wanted to be perceived, of my grasping for love.

Inside, there was one calm, steady voice. She was an older wiser version of me. She had been through it all and she recognized what is most valuable and nurturing for me.

Her advice, so gently and with the firmness of a grandmother was, “slow down”.

So, I did.

We’ll talk about how to keep it together when the world around you is falling apart.

Because on the other side of presence is the life you’ve been chasing.

Yes, hiking is good for you. But when you're so burned out you can barely get out of bed, another 'just go for a walk' suggestion can feel like one more thing you're failing at.

That's not what this is.

This is walking with someone who understands that your exhaustion isn't just physical. Who knows how to help you slow down enough to hear yourself think again. Who can hold space for all the things you've been too busy to feel.

If you're at the point where even brushing your teeth feels overwhelming, take a walk with me.

We’ll slow down. We’ll reconnect with your body. We’ll hold space for all the feelings you are pushing away and allow them to belong, here, now.

And then, when you're ready, we'll find your next step forward.

….

Are you tired? Take a walk with me.

Just you, nature, and gentle guidance to healing your burnout cycle for good.

I’ve created five gentle walking meditations to move you from burnout to breakthrough, help you untangle those perfectionist patterns, and trust your own wisdom again. No special gear required - just you, some comfortable shoes, and a willingness to walk a different path.

So, grab your earbuds, find a comfortable place to walk, could be just around the block, and press play - it’s that easy.

What does fire have to tell us?

We are watching multiple wildfires spread through the residential districts of Southern California.

My business coach, and dear friend Cara Kovacs has been evacuated to Joshua tree, posting a picture of her sweet corgi bathing in the sun. As of this writing, there is no power in Joshua Tree or Southern California.

John Kim, the co-founder of my coaching training program, has posted a video on Instagram of the space where his home once stood, followed by a reel of him shopping for basics to get him and his family through the day - a successful therapist with 416K followers and a book on the shelves at Target, starting from square one - socks and underwear.

I woke this morning thinking to myself, what does fire have to tell us?

This morning, I meditated on the fire inside the wood stove in the corner of my frigid front room. I thought about how fire moves - its capacity for destruction and regeneration.

Some will rebuild. Countless others have lost everything with no safety net in sight.

This wildfire is the direct result of years of extraction and suppression. It’s the result of the rampant disregard of the wisdom of indigenous fire management practices. It’s the unquestionable result of an ecosystem buckling under the weight of extreme climate change.

But under the scorched earth, mycorrhizal networks are preparing to rebuild. And, like them, we can be of most use when we step away from the collective narcissism and crushing loneliness of our times, and reach for each other.

The fossil fuel industry wants us to feel helpless to stop what we’re facing as a collective, but we are part of a long tradition of people working together to challenge seemingly untouchable power structures.

While the Palisades Fires are still at 0% containment, the best we can do is to hold our loved ones close, donate what we can, take a deep breath, and continue to move into our power, one healing step at a time.

Here is a list of resources gathered by Mutual Aid LA for those impacted by wildfires in the LA area:

Rather than speed up to match someone else’s pace, slow down so you can know your next right step.

Instead of drown in an avalanche of information, put down your phone, so you can hear your own wisdom.

Rather than be swept away by loneliness, turn to the community that is nearest, so you can know you are valued and supported.

Are you tired?

Sit by the fire with me.

We'll reconnect with nature and your own inner wisdom so you can move from feeling sick and stuck to finding the energy and courage to make real change.

Now, ask yourself, maybe showing up no matter what has never been your problem.

Maybe you're binging Netflix while everything you 'should' be doing is glaring at you from your desktop because you're actually bone tired of saying yes.

If this feels true, come and join me by the fire on January 15.
We'll talk about what the difference is between the self-sabotaging "no" and the deeply sacred "no" that comes from a profound knowing of your next right step.

There are three seats left. You can click the link to save yours.

Here's a weird thing I'm going to say...taking time to watch the snow fall could be more productive than updating your resume.

If that sounds absurd (but intriguing), join me by the fire on January 15.

We'll talk about why changing jobs like seats on the Titanic might actually work against you (and how you can use nature to help you slow down so you can know your next right step.)

Space is limited. Click below to save your seat.

Looking up to watch the stars? It’s the most powerful path to lasting change.

Are you tired? Sit by the fire with me on January 15.

https://jenevieve.myflodesk.com/tend-the-fire

We’ll talk about why watching a river move past for the rest of the day is the most radical thing you can do right now. Because the clarity you’re searching for is not in your next vision board, it’s waiting on the other side of stillness.
