For those who don't know, or have spoken to me in a while. Our Father, Greg Lance passed away on 4/13/24. We have been keeping this within the family for a bit but we wanted to share this with others who may not know, and are friends or family with us.

We all have ways of processing death, and for me I find healing in music. I have always connected with electronic music for help and healing in my darkest times. With our father passing I once again went into my safe place with music. My dad always loved my mixes. He found healing within my mixes when he listened to them. I created a mix that expresses my journey within my grieving process. I want to be clear, this isn't for plays, or fame. This is about my way of honoring him, and what he always loved me doing. I ask you listen to this mix in his honor, and connect with music seeing what he loved seeing me do. For those who need to reach out to us, please do privately.

Rest in Peace

Eight4Fifty8 (In Loving Memory of Greg Lance) - Mixed by Jairus Lance

Gregory Lance, an inventor, a storyteller of his journey's in life, our protector from the dangers of this world, and most importantly our father. Dad was one of many things. His hands would create structures of vast proportion to inspire us kids to see the world. His words would encourage us to always see the future, and not be afraid to make mistakes. Everyday would be something new to grab ahold of and make the best of it. His guidance in life allowed us kids to find our own path in life.

With the passing of my mother many years ago, I found a healing power in electronic music. I found my calling in becoming a DJ, expressing myself in each and every mix created, every live show performed, and every bedroom DJ session.

Dad always loved my mixes. He found a his own healing power within my mixes. He always wanted to come a live show and see me perform, he would talk about me all the time to his friends about who I was performing or opening for, the events I was involved in, and my podcasts created. As life happens, Dad was called to the heavens on April 13, 2024.

This mix is my own personal journey with grieving. This past month has been very emotional with Dad's passing. Finding a day without thinking of him, and not being emotional has been tough but with this mix now complete, I have finally felt acceptance with his death. I ask you to listen to this mix not for plays, but in regarding to honoring him. He loved melodic and progressive mixes that would take his mind into euphoric journeys. The track selections and movement of this mix would express how I would want him to see my live show. I see him within this mix, I feel his love for what I truly found passion in.

In loving memory of Gregory Lance, my father - This is your journey, may you rest in peace. 8/4/58 - 4/13/24

Our Story

JAIRUS LANCE

Jairus Lance began his electronic journey back in 2001 at a local music store. Compact disks where the way to get music to our homes back then. Stacks and stack of CD binders organized from A to Z in genre. One of those adventures into Best Buy Jairus found the Classic trance tune named " Sandstorm" by Darude. From the first moment of the track playing till the end, Jairus began to find a calling to this mysterious energy that flowed through him. Curious to find more, Jairus began to look into more of this so called, Electronic Dance Music, but back then we called it Energy Trance. Finding a friend and co-worker at the time that also was a part of this world he so desperately started to look for Jairus finally attended his first rave up in Seattle. DJ Micro, DJ Irene, DJ Spider, DJ 7UP, DJ Mars where just a few of the highlighted artists on the lineup for this night. Being a fan of DJ Micro, Jairus got to see for the first time what this amazing journey was like. " I have been listening to DJ Micro's CD's for like 3 weeks straight and knowing that he was going to be at this rave, brought a huge excitement to see him perform live. I was right up front jumping, dancing, and just letting the world go. After his set I was honored to meet him, get an autograph of my ticket, and snap a picture. I ventured out of my love for Trance and started to explore House music. Richard "Humpty" Vission, Bad Boy Bill, DJ Dan, Donald Glaude, and Hatiras was just the beginning for me. Still buzzing the excitement from the night before in Seattle, I attended a House party here in Portland OR with headliner Richard "Humpty" Vission on his album tour, Dam That DJ Made My Day. A dark, cold, and mysterious four room warehouse with the main no bigger than a 3 car garage. The walls where sweating from the amount of heat, the speakers where thumping from the bass, and Richard was building a drop. At this moment in his set I looked over in the crowd and it was like slow motion, everyone was on beat to his track, one fluid motion. I felt this energy I have never felt before, I was speechless. I knew right then and there what I need to do in my life. I create the energy, its released by you, my fans" - Jairus Lance. From that moment to this moment right now Jairus has never forgotten that feeling. That connection with the crowd. Creating uplifting moments, euphoric atmospheres, mind blowing drops, and memories that will never be forgotten. He doesn't just play music, he creates stories that will guide you down an elemental path. Jairus continues to always seek out the best of himself in his mixing. From bedroom jam sessions, to live performances he brings everything to the tables. Jairus has not only grown as a musical artist, he has built a strong following of fans with the creation of 8 Bit Sessions. Founded in 2012, 8 Bit Sessions was created, focusing on the lost underground electronic music scene. “I wanted to create something that would allow the unspoken to be heard, to find the lost artifacts in our scene, have a location to socialize, and seen by other explorers of the lost arts. We guide and help them find their own element, and become one with it. An electronic music company that focuses on the underground artists, the local life blood our beautiful scene. Welcoming them with pure love and respect for what they're passionate about, and allowing them to be themselves within their own element. We are together as one, Embrace your Element." Opening up for major artists like, 16 bit lolitas, Alpha 9, Audien, The Crystal Method, Disco Fries, George Fitzgerald, Infected Mushroom, J. Philip, & Sage Armstrong. Playing festivals Turbulence 2018 & 2019 presented by Murderboat Productions. Murderboat Productions NYE events, “I’m On A Boat 2018”, and their upcoming event 2019 NYE event “Roaring Twenties Speakeasy”, Jairus Lance is showcasing own element for all to enjoy. We see so much more happening for this local artist.
