The Yeepeng Lanna International event has been a tradition since 1986, held at Thu D**g Kha Sathan Lanna in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This event symbolizes the Buddhist worship practices of the Lanna Thai people, involving the lighting of lamps and releasing lanterns during the Loy Krathong festival. Drawing thousands of participants, it has become a standout tourism attraction, leaving a lasting impression on locals and international visitors, organized by the Foundation for Moral Promotion, a public benefit organization.
In addition to supporting the local community's funds, the YLI event also backs the Tawan Bon Doi (the Sun on the Moutain) scholarship program. This initiative aims to offer educational opportunities and promote moral values among students in remote areas, particularly in the mountainous regions of North Thailand. The scholarship incentivizes students to return to their hometowns and nurture moral development within their communities.
During the event, there will be an exhibition featuring children from Tawan Bon Doi showcasing the culture of their hometown in exchange for visitors from different cultures. In addition to being impressed by releasing sky lanterns, you will also receive merit for helping to support society for the better.
Thu D**g Kha Sathan Lanna collaborates with local communities and organizations to minimize environmental impact. Therefore, you can confidently attend this eco-friendly safety event.
This year, the event will be on November 15th and 16th, 2024, from 4 pm. to 9 pm.
