Percy Davis of the Findlay, Ohio Rock Band, The Nite Watchmen has passed. The Nite Watchmen were a legend in Northwest Ohio in the late 60's and early 70's. They played on Opening Day at The PARK in July of 1971.

Percy: Thanks for the Music and the Memories.

It is with great sadness that we announce that The PARK has lost one of its best-known performers, Tina Turner. Tina was still with her husband, Ike, at the time billing themselves as "The Ike & Tina Turner R***e". Their recently released hit version of CCR's "Proud Mary" was climbing the charts . . . and everyone, young and old were familiar with the song. The people still living in the North Baltimore area still talk about the "hippie folks" at The PARK and the "Ike & Tina Turner" show. It was so amazing that Tina was able to overcome all of the ugliness in her life and become the Superstar that she became. I, for one, am very happy that I had the chance to see her perform at this point in her career. I'm just sorry that I never had the chance to see her in her later years. Tina - you were an icon and will be sadly missed.

Happy 75th Birthday, Alice Cooper! Looking forward to your upcoming tour.

It's so sad that The PARK has lost another of their Heroes. Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown put on one of the best concerts at The PARK that I have ever seen. He will be missed in the music world - but his music will live on forever.

Kim Simmonds passed away peacefully in the evening of December 13th -- may he rest in peace

The PARK owners were able to eventually open after "fighting" with the North Baltimore Council. Hopefully things will run a little smoother in Waterville.

These discussions probably bring back memories to the founding members of The PARK. The hassles that they received in the Toledo Area were the main reason that the "settled" on the North Baltimore location, not knowing that the residents there would also be relentless in their quest to close them down. Hopefully Waterville won't make the same mistakes that the folks in North Baltimore did.

Mayor Tim Pedro said developers have a long way to go before construction begins because it must go through a site plan, an architectural plan and a sound study.

Apparently, George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic have lost none of their charm since playing at The PARK on Labor Day back in 1971. The photos are from the concert at Promenade Park in Toledo, Ohio on July 8th. (Borrowed the photos from John Eikost.)

ZZ Top made an "unannounced" stop at The PARK, giving the audience a special treat playing some of their early "hits" like "Francene". It proved to be one of the best shows presented at The PARK that year. Now you have another chance to see them this weekend at The Toledo Zoo Amphitheatre on July 1. This is their first tour without original member "Dusty Hill".

I'm guessing it's going to be a great show!

PARK Stars, George Clinton and the Parliament-Funkadelic will be in the neighborhood on July 8 at the "ProMedica Live" Summer Concert Series in Downtown Toledo. Tickets are very reasonable, so if you missed them at The Park on Labor Day in 1971, this is your chance to see them.

It's never too late to "Get the Funk Out!"
