HIGHLY recommend having a honeymoon camping on a beautiful mountaintop out in the middle of nowhere, with only my film cameras. 1000/10, would do again.
In other news, doing a website rehaul and everything is feeling so much better. It’s not live yet (I’ll be sure to tell ya when it is) but holy moly these last few years have been transformative. I’m excited to share the new direction!
Over thanksgiving we spent some time digging through old family photos. And you know which ones were the best? The real ones. The photos with joy, the funny or silly ones, the photos taken which were appreciated so much we ordered doubles or triples to send to family.
So… where to start with posting when I haven't posted in a literal year? As in… I have a whole YEAR'S worth of imagery and stories to share, that I'm incredibly proud and happy with?! A wedding from November of course. That's part of the beauty of film… the timelessness. These are just as relevant now, as they will be another year from now. And a few years from then. And maybe I'll sneak in some photos from digging through the archives and see if you can tell :P I did bring some negatives back with me to scan, of course.
Ahhh panicking! I started getting a couple odd people saying that when they’d email me, they’d get a bounce back email- but I’d respond to the email anyway. And people who I sent an email to never saw it!
Now I come to discover that no email I’ve sent within the last 3+ days has sent, and none have been received for 2 days.

Greg and I got to meet and photograph Brittany and Caleb during their engagement session last year. We had so much fun during the session, but that was nothing compared to their wedding! They were all smiles throughout the day, from getting ready to taking a last minute detour to 7-11, from the surprise VW bus to the candy cart and of course the dance floor (and check out the sweet dress change).
Ugh, these two are so disgustingly sweet I almost threw up (though might have been the candy…)

Something I'm grateful for this year- this beautiful man gave me a beautiful ass ring, and I've gotten to stare at its sparkle for almost two weeks now!!
I definitely thought I was desensitized to this whole proposal thing. I'm in the wedding industry so talks about weddings and marriage aren't exactly new territory for us, and we've known from an early stage that we loved eachother. I also helped him facilitate getting my grandmother's ring.
AND YET- I am so freaking thrilled. Greg gets to say that I literally got "human zoomies" after the proposal. I went a little nuts, and then just walked around in a cloud of bliss for like a week straight.
I cannot thank our friend enough for being there to capture one of the best days EVER. I have such a bursting heart with love for Gerg, and for all my favorite people. I just love you all so much

Holy crap. 10 years of wedding photography!!
It was my birthday this week, so I figured now was as good a time as any for a little recap!
I’ve known I wanted to be a photographer since I was littler than the first photo. I took a picture of some balloons at a birthday party in second grade and that was it for me. I was hooked for life.
I took pictures of and with friends throughout my childhood, and my identity was definitely tied into being "the photographer."
I was 15 when I got my first internship with a real photographer. I owe so much of what I am to and for taking my flaky teenage ass under their wings and teaching me the fundamentals of how to make people look good in the camera. I also learned that photography could be a real job? And I didn't actually have to go to school to be a scientist?
I had aspirations of being a photojournalist for and I found local photographer who showed me the world of wedding photography. I was obsessed from the first wedding- where half the ceremony was in Italian, and I got to combine my love for journalism, portraiture, details, and a good party into a big happy love blender.
I've grown A LOT as a photographer along the way, but also as a business person, friend, partner, and human. Thank goodness for puberty, and thank goodness I'm not 16 anymore, posting on craigslist advertising $600 weddings or headshots for $60 haha! Those first wedding photos are from some of my first weddings in or before 2012. Can you spot the trends of the time? 😂
The finished images from my editing stories today! So so worth the extra time and effort to get rid of background distractions, and match my digital images to the film scans.
Nigel crossed the rainbow bridge this week, and the only comfort we have is that he's not in pain anymore.
These last four weeks have been so hard. His illness came suddenly and it devastated us. We couldn’t have done anything to prevent it, and we couldn’t have spotted it earlier. He was his normal energetic, puppy self just one month ago.
On his last day, we gave him McDonalds and In n Out, took him to the park (boy did he love rolling around on grass) and had him hang out with all his favorite people.
I'm trying to get back into the swing of things work wise, but anytime I'd be working he'd be on my lap or at my feet and then I'm weeping all over again. I really don’t mean to sound mopey, life’s just a little harder than usual right now.
We miss our puppy.
Family photos: arguably one of the most important parts of a wedding photographer’s job- yet it can also be tedious, boring, slow, frustrating, and just keep you from the fun party. Here’s a couple ways to get great and lively images and get out of there fast!
1- hire me (duh)
2- Dont put too much pressure on everyone listening. It’s your photog’s job to herd everyone together. In big groups, there are always people lagging behind, a little tipsy, or who just can’t hear. Some of the best family photos happen when not everyone is ready (see photos)
3- be in the moment! You’re often literally JUST married, so let the joy carry you into family photos! Say hi to grandma for a moment, that’s a way better picture than telling grandma “we have to take pictures. Talk later. Smile!”
4- get yourself a drink or two! Cocktail hour is often happening right as family photos are, so sneak one of those hor d'oeuvres and keep a glass nearby.
5- make a list of the VIPs in advance, and remember you don’t need a picture with everyone in attendance (unless you’re eloping!)

Just got film scans back from several recent weddings and I am SO EXCITED to start editing this week!
Sara + Hugo’s whole wedding was centered around their love of literature- from table numbers, accents, and even her ring box. So it was only fitting that we do the first look in stunning library!

These two images might be my favorite that I've taken this year. Elena and Angelo got into this amazing little getaway car to get from the church to their dinner party, with a little "just married" sign on the back.
These are the candid moments that other might miss, or dismiss as not pretty enough. This is the fun weddings are all about!
The fog rolled in, and thick, within 60 seconds. It was sunny and warm, then the fog made it wet and chilly. We just soaked it all in.
