It all started with a visit to the Halloween Club in Anaheim California in 2014. I was there to find an outfit for Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland, California. Walking down the rows and rows of costumes and props, I became inspired to learn to make them, I set this as a future goal for myself once I returned home. The second I put on my store bought Assassin’s Creed costume, I felt like an entirely different person. I felt strong, powerful and sassy. I liked the feeling. It was exhilarating.
Fast forward a week later to November 7 & 8, 2o14. My first ever Blizzcon. Walking through the convention and seeing all these people in big cosplay builds only drove my burning desire to build. This was the year that Overwatch was announced and there was a gallery set up with a bunch of concept art. Soldier 76, Pharah and Genji instantly caught my attention. At the time, I had no idea what their names were, I was drawn to them as characters and loved how badass they looked. I couldn’t wait for the game to be released so I could get a closer look.
2016 was the year of my first cosplay. I debuted it at Blizzcon that year. Inspired by Overwatch, I genderbent Soldier 76. I was extremely proud of how everything came together and it inspired me to continue.
2017 was a quiet year for and 2018 was busier on the cosplay front but still quiet.
