As we reflect on the past year and the recent events of heightened xenophobic hate crimes, we both struggle to put down in words the emotions going through our mind and heart being first generation immigrants in Canada ourselves. Yet, we know the best thing we can do is to speak up, stay strong, get involved, share our stories and culture to further strengthen the community that is near and dear to our hearts and with those that we love.
Shortly after we were born, our father took a leap of faith and left our birth country for a better place to grow our family. The next time we saw him was when we arrived in Canada. Not knowing a word of English, feeling strange in a new country, faces and language - those were our emotions. We started experiencing racism at an early age, being chased daily at school was a deep part of our 5 year old memory, with a plastic knife by another kid that looked very different. As we grew up, we were met with unpleasant words and commentary like βNi Haoβ and βKonnichiwaβ. For most of our lives, we did not think much of it and became desensitized to the behaviour, yet seemingly has always inherently existed. As we hear about the increased hate crimes towards the Asian community and many around us voicing their experiences made us realize, we were not alone.
"Be the change you wish to see in the world" by Mahatma Gandhi truly speaks to us regarding many things nowadays, especially RACISM. We are not only speaking about those targeted towards Asians but any form of it, should not be tolerated. It is time to speak up and fight together for a better world. We encourage everyone to get involved and voice their experiences by reporting an incident to https://www.covidracism.ca/report. It's time for a CHANGE.

Anytime is a good time to get married.
It is a difficult time for those engaged as planning a wedding has never been so daunting and exhausting. We hear you. With so much uncertainty and continuously changing guidelines, sometimes, we just want to give up. It's the weekend, give yourself a break. Have a little breather to sit back and relax.
Anytime is the right time for a wedding. We just need to take a step back to see the bigger picture. We are here to help every step of the way.
