The path towards a rewarding career or just life in general is often filled with unexpected twists and turns, from being a victim of the global pandemic that caused me to lose my first job as a casino dealer in the Philippines, where I worked for almost five years, to now being here in Canada trying to pursue a Post-graduate degree in Event Management at Centennial College after just finishing a post graduate program in Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Management is nothing short of an exciting adventure.
I am currently working as a front of house supervisor in a family dining restaurant, where I can further study my interest in hospitality and customer service. I have managed different teams and because of that I gained a deeper appreciation for the significance of planning ahead, staying organized, and creating a positive atmosphere to ensure our guests have a great experience, these various experiences in the field of hospitality and customer service is what led to my decision to try and explore the world event management.
As I begin to study event management at Centennial College, I am motivated to combine my experience in hospitality and customer service with the creativity that the events industry requires. I have always been fascinated by the ability of events to bring people together, it’s ability to make people more engaged in something, it’s ability to create moments that just makes you go ‘Wow’, moments that just makes people happy and put genuine smiles on their faces.
